Kerri you gave me so much anxiety when you couldn't get the foot back on the blade! I thought you would have to drive another 7 hours back to the prosthetist to have him repair it 🤣 I'm so glad that the issues were easily taken care of. I'm still amazed at how quickly you're adapting to your "new normal". Your sense of humor is so refreshing in the face of this challenging situation. I'm waiting for my custom-made implant for my aka osseointegration procedure. Should be undergoing surgery by the end of this month/early October. Your shared experiences are so helpful. Keep on rocking!

Oh sister! I had a few moments of panic!! I shouldn’t have taken it apart for sure haha and you’re right, I almost cost myself another 7 hours 😱 I’m going to look up the osseointegration procedure so I know what you are getting!

@@ElectiveAmputation I was so amused (after the initial anxiety) 😄. Yes, look it up when you can spare a moment. My ortho doctors at Hospital for Special Surgery believe that osseointegration will be ideal for me. This type of surgery is supposedly easier for above the knee amputees who often have trouble with sockets. We'll see... Thanks for making me laugh today dear. Have a blessed and beautiful day.

@@ElectiveAmputation I don't specifically follow anyone on KZbin who has had it done but there is quite a bit of KZbin content available. I've met one other patient at the Hospital for Special Surgery, a gentleman who had surgery about 3-4 months ago and is up and walking around quite well. Everyone's body and situation is different but I'm hoping for the best 🙏🏽

So when I first stsrted out they told me to only wear my liner for 20 min. at A time. That was out the window the second day. when I got my leg I was A little slow at first I had to use my walker still. now I'm walking I think pretty normal. I can't get through A work day yet but I'm thinking about going back part time. I'm sure I cn do A four hour day and still be good to go after work. I think. Some times it feels like my socket is A little rotated and my knee cap feels it so far I can fix this with socks. but A heat gun could be in my near future. I just have to make it to Friday for yet another test socket. This stuff is A ton of fun yeah? be cool

It really is a science. Building the perfect fit where the knee is right and the leg is functional can’t be easy for them! And then to know what foot to add and make it where we aren’t falling forward or backwards is incredible! They are artists. And then we take hat guns to them 😂🤣😂 I know you mentioned going back to work before so I hope Friday you get enough success to be able to! Let us know!

Yup! I never had a test socket. Right BKA. They took the casting and made a carbon fiber socket maybe two months out from my amputation. Since then, my calf has atrpphied and gotten much smaller, so I just have to wear a bunch of under and over socks with my liner to fit into the socket, because medicare won't pay for another socket for like 6 months. F%$* medicare. You're also lucky that you're not even in a permanent socket yet and you have a Fillauer Allpro?? I'm stuck with a medicare approved K2 Ossur foott. No energy return, no multiaxis, nothing. I can't walk very well on uneven ground in it, can't run or jump. It's basically just good for walking around the house. I'd commit heinous crimes to get that Allpro foot, for sure.
