The thing is that most of the people on here are so obviously intelligent and if they had been born in to different circumstances they would have had such a lovely life or at least a far better life. These problems are generational, the lack of example of how to live differently and a Father. Yes they can see other people living a good life but you need the example in your home. The lack of safety and structure is so important. The government should be there to step in for when this goes wrong but that system is flawed because its run as a business not as true care. The true reflection of a society is how they treat the most vulnerable. Doesn't look like we are doing too well on that front. God bless all who are struggling out there! ❤️❤️

@@truthof7382 I personally think nurture has so much to do with it, if you never feel properly loved and safe how can you ever have the self-esteem to do better. Those parts of your brain just aren't activated. Obviously nature is important but if your Mother is drinking or/and doing drugs whilst pregnant that poor babies brain isn't going to get the nutrition or the chance to develop. It's so sad!!

@@sunshinepatsoph4219 im sorry. I don't mean to negate the obvious pain and suffering caused by a lack of parents only that for example abusive parents can cause extreme damage too. I'm sorry for having used misleading wording. It's just hard for some children at times to be expected to be grateful for their parents when their parents hurt them badly. But that is besides the point, I also wished everyone grew up in a loving home! And an education system that positions young people for success in life. Starting out set up at a significant disadvantage in America is a huge problem. It’s understandable to feel hopeless being a kid and realizing all at once succeeding isn’t likely. Looking at the choice to work a minimum wage job and hope to get assistance or breaking the law to support yourself isn’t any way of starting a life if you plan on reaching 40 alive or outside prison.

I know a woman who is a prostitute. She grew up in an upper middle class family. Her parents have been married for all of her life and then some. She grew up with a brother and both parents and had a tight knit family (I’ve known her for a long time.) Her parents paid for her college, bought her car, funded her life until she graduated and got a job. She had every opportunity. She was a sorority girl and is absolutely beautiful. After graduation, she decided to get into prostitution because she saw she could make a lot more money. I don’t judge and never would. But I think because she didn’t have to do this, she will someday regret the decisions she made. Anyway, hearing this woman’s story is pretty heartbreaking. Like, what else could she have done? She grew up in an environment where she had no options. Completely different from the woman I know who had every opportunity in the world.

These attitudes are very myopic and narrow. It is not at what Devon sells that is the problem. It's the 'working the street ' and all the danger and drug abuse that goes with that. I have never actually used any of these services. But we have broad societal problems in the western world creating a real need for them. We have, where I live , a 'no fault ' divorce culture. There are a lot of lonely men, usually middle aged men, looking for female companionship. Legalizing a regulated industry is the right way to go. With protections for people. Not criminalization.

I've seen some comments about inconsistencies. Sometimes when we experience trauma, we have a tendency to suppress or block out certain memories or feelings. Sometimes we dont want to remember certain things, but inconsistencies aren't for us to judge. How can we learn or even help someone if we judge? The most important thing we can do is to listen without judgement.

We pick people based on our learned attachment model, most of it subconscious. We confuse attachment with love. Most of us grow up as obedient children who idealize our parents because as kids we have no choice but to choose attachment over authenticity. Our wounds mostly stay hidden but they are clearly visible in the cycles we repeat in our lives. It's painful to become conscious of them and I'd argue everyone has loads of unprocessed shame, grief, and aggression beneath the surface. We western people all live in a trauma-based society and our parents weren't real adults but grown wounded children.

You are loved, seen, heard, and related to. I hope one day my efforts in turning around my life will work, so that I can help people who struggled like me. People who are looked down upon by society. I'm medium complexion, growing up Devon would be considered "light-skinned", "high yellow" etc. The darker-skinned kids and light-skinned were always going at it, most of the time just fun jokes but it got nasty at times. I was always in the middle and never had one thing said about my complexion but admittingly I would make both light and dark-skinned jokes as well. To hear that someone with Devon's complexion was ostracized by people who were lighter than her shows how prevalent colorism is in the black community and frankly how much worse its gotten.

This woman could go far if given the chance. I'm sure if she came into enough money to relocate somewhere where no one knows her past she could do amazing. I can't stop watching this channel for some reason and it's not because I need to judge others to feel better about myself. I watch for the human condition! I work with Batterers in Domestic Violence cases and I know that they are the reasons that these ladies are in the condition and place mentally that they are. Fathers are NEEDED gentlemen... Anyone can have sex and create life, but it takes a REAL man to step up and be a father. Devon and the countless others on here like: Paradise, Chyna and etc are telling you exactly why they do this line of work! And yet we sit back and judge them, because it makes us feel better. We sit in the comfort of our homes or offices and view this as entertainment! NO! This is real life, real conditions and real people! They are not characters in a television show or movie, they are ever day people that got TRAPPED in a cycle of loss and hurt. It destroys me every time I view this channel, but at the same time this channel is a blessing. I actually showed my men in my Batterers group the interview with Chyna and all the jokes and comments went silent! They recognized that they are doing to their wives and kids, the same thing that her father did to them. And the fact that she started prostituting at 13 years of age destroyed them, because most of them have daughters around the same age. I have participated in events like "Walk a Mile in Her Shoes" and I only thought of the Victims of Domestic Violence and that was it. But when Devon said, "Instead of judging us, try to walk a mile in our shoes" I died inside. Because the truth of the matter is that we don't see these women as ladies any longer. Men use them for SEX and ABUSE and women view them as trash. Look, these ladies would not be in this condition if people simply stopped PURCHASING SEX!!! The consumer is the problem, not the women providing the service! Lastly, I would like to say THANK YOU to Devon for bringing a new point of view to me. No woman should wake up daily and think that it would be better if she were dead and I thank the Universe that this woman is still standing because she has a light and desire that could/can help others. Lastly, she is correct when she discusses how black women are treated and also how PRETTY doesn't pay the bills. Devon, if you are out there and ever read this, I would like to say THANK YOU a millions times over and I will be playing your story for my guys in group to let them know that Fathers are needed and it starts with THEM.

You know we cannot fix this society by blaming fathers. If we legalize prostitution it would put the end of Pimps and it would cut down on human trafficking. How about curing homelessness, the cure for this is in the word. Homes! Arrange for permanent housing pay a decent wage for work and take the stigma of having been in prison there are many things wrong with this society. When she says that it was hard to be a good kid because of the neighbourhood when really, it was hard to be a good kid when you didn’t get the love you needed. ☹️ And the rejection of the grandmother sending the child off to the foster care system where they are likely to be even more exploited and taken advantage of? You can tell she's highly intelligent. The way she processes, categorizes, and learns quickly are all at the high end of the IQ bell curve, especially at her age. Most people cannot spot manipulation when you're being abused. The good news for her: she's very young, she understands and values time, and she's hit rock bottom. That's what it takes to really make a dramatic and positive change in life.

Devon's sensitivity and clarity is so very compelling to me. My heart goes out to her. Her parents, her family, and society have done her a terrible disservice. She's intelligent, caring and hardworking... She deserves to feel confident in her her own beautiful skin. I hope her future brings her some help and her kids back to her. All she needs is a few years of a new normal where she gets to control her own body, doesn't have to feel fear all the time, and can take care of her precious babies, then she'll be straight for life. She's precious and she deserves a better life. And her kids deserve a better life with Mommy. Devon, my heart is with you. 💜

This woman, Devon, is the epitome of feminine strength. I admire her strength. I want to help her. I could listen to her talk for hours. Such wisdom. Such opinions and thoughts. Such intelligence. I love her resolve to push past any and all opposition despite her hatred for herself. She's amazing. I deeply pray she gets to where she wants to go. She deserves it. She earned. Society is unfair. People in this life is against one another. Misery loves company. No matter where you're at in life, others want to see you to fail. Despite this... She STILL chooses to fight.
