I'm a person that greatly enjoy the long rambely videos. For each talent node you talk about, you give out a ton of useful knowledge. Some pay maybe just want to copy a build, but to master it I feel knowledge like this is mandatory, but also pretty hard to come by in todays age with 5 min quick guides for everything.

Rotation: Use a button, then use your others buttons. Use more buttons to avoid capping rage. Finally one I can learn!

Nice video, Dratnos! FYI: the reason Battle-Scarred Veteran procs so often is that it procs based off of pre-mitigated values. I.e., if a hit would bring you below 30% /before any mitigation is calculated/, you'll proc the effect. A regrettable interaction on what otherwise would be a great emergency talent.

One note. It's also super easy to get a 1h tanking weapon from council, since there are only few players that need it. If you just kill first 2 bosses on mythic... Shield and 1h weapon will be on Vault loot table for easy 415ivl. I would craft some other parts first... Especially those that will stay bis even after M+ vault. For fury, it's much simpler to craft 2h weapon because it's almost impossible to get two weapons that are better than any 418 crafted. When you have extra sparks, go for any piece that need an upgrade.

I know you can get this anywhere but I think it's really important to mention mouseover macros for things like heroic throw, taunt and intervene, stormbolt etc. A bit overkill maybe there's SO many macros you can't possibly summarise in 1 video

Iam new to wow and just started playing and i love my prot warrior, iam still learning the m+ and makes it easy that i take 0 damage and i have time to learn mechanics. I just started Tanking 20+ keys this week and iam glad they made a tank that is beginner friendly that doesnt take damage so us newbies have time to learn how to play.

Just wanted to say that if you're learning the spec, or even if you've been playing it for a while, don't get caught up in what's the "best" way to play your protection warrior. Play in a way that works for the people that you run raids and M+ with regularly. Work with them and try new things often so that you can find the right balance of threat and mitigation for every situation. Don't get caught up in damage meters and all the optimizations online. What matters most is succeeding in the content you are progressing in. Whatever you can do to make life easier for them, especially your healer, will pay dividends in the long run. Optimize your play in those terms and not Warcraftlogs.

Nice guide ! I realised I get baited when I am full rage and full ignore pain in delaying shield slam and TC and instead use revenge. Just to be sure in those scenarios, I should dump excess rage into IP for avatar/SW reduce cd, use shield slam and TC on cd and only then insert back revenge in the rotation, is that correct?

just make sure you have bounding stride and otherwise just don't take the purely defensive talents like bolster if you're doing content that can't hurt you - otherwise i imagine in theory the best stuff would be the same (but ofc you can also just use whichever abilities you like the most for that kind of stuff)

i usually enjoy your content alot. your podcast especially is a blast and a source of valuable nieche information. if contructive feedback is welcome then here are my 2cents: in my optinion this guide sounds is like an introduction then an in depth guide and does not represent the in depth knowledge you posses obviously. sure, you took your time going through all the talents and stuff, but it feels pretty flat. for example your quick take on the shockwave talents: "shockwave build usually nobody does that on high keys or progression." end. whats the intent here? we know now nobody good does it. but why? well, i know you know the answer, why not sharing it? shouldnt a guide be supposed to arm the viewer with knowledge to make them able to decide on their own if a talent is worth it instead of quoting a streamers opinion? i wished for more then that. like "shockwave build is on par damage wise with dragonshot builds, but the tradeoff, capping out the cc dimishing return early on, is usually not considered worth it, because the packs in dungeon xyz cant be left uncontrolled" what about bloodborne? "if you can afford it it is great for aoe dps". whats the tradeoff here? what talents needs to be picked as well to make it work? what talents needs to be left out? is the tradeoff crucial or minor and why? paint me a fuller picture here. what about the rotation? is there wiggle room in our prio list and when and what may be the result? hoped you would shine a light on these nuances as well. can be the difference between 50k and >100k tank dps on overgrown ancient in academy. and that may be crucial on tyrannical. the list goes on. it would have been perfect if you had stated the underlying facts instead of just your final judgment on rotation, talents and co. i still enjoy your content and hope to shine some light on the discomfort i feel. sincerely yours, a brother in arms

I wouldn't recommend this - often you'll already have shield block up (because it's something you maintain most of the time anyway) whereas spell block is a 90 second cooldown that you want to use for specific things

@@dratnos A good idea might be to key-bind your shield block to say the 3 key, then for spell block you can bind it to SHIFT+3. I do this for many spells that are similar in what they do so it's easy to remember.
