Things are getting a little sketchy right now, thought a Faraday cage would be something at the last of my preps, but now thinking I’d best get that up and sound. Anything is on the table right now. Stay safe all and thanks again JR

Something to bear in mind with using an old laptop as a data store is that if it is placed in a faraday cage and not powered up for some time, the data on the hard drive can degrade - a phenomenon known as bitrot. It takes years to happen - but it is still a risk. It can be prevented by powering up the laptop every few months to check the data on it is ok. Programs such as disk fresh can be used to keep the data intact.

I keep 2, not 1, but two emergency radios with spare batteries in 2 different types of Faraday cages in 2 separate locations on my Property. I am trying to get a 3rd one as well currently. That is beside everything else I have prepped in many years as a Prepper. Thanks DIY Prepper for all your insights!

I've decided that because of the vulnerability a generator creates I have moved mine to include it only in my medical preps. Additionally I have added another 30 pound propane tank (full) specifically to make sure I can Can any food on hand at such a time.

Good vid. I keep in mind Dave Canterbury's "5 C's" of minimal survival (Cutting tool, Cordage, Combustion device, Cover, Container) and the three B's of logistics that I learned many years ago in boot camp: Beans, Bullets, Bandages. I've tried to add to all of these things over the years and hope I can survive what's coming.

A metal truck tool box is also a good choice to make a Faraday cage. Also copper foir tape works better than aluminum.

Good info, as usual. I'd like to see a vid on what actually can/will happen during an EMP event either naturally from the sun or man made. There seems to be a LOT of contradictions out there as to what will be effected. We can't cage everything we might need but if we knew that certain items for SURE would be knocked out we could plan accordingly. Duplicating everything that "could be vulnerable" isn't all that cost effective and would require the purchase of a shipping container sized faraday cage.

A battery bank, radios, lights, solar panels...store in the cage. No one knows 100% what would happen but an emp would destroy the power grid.

As far a saving phones, laptops and tablets, download a few movies if you can. If you have a means to charge, those movies will be morale boosters for sure. My Delta 2 can power my PS4 slim and a 40in tv on just 70W/hr. If i wanted to i can watch all 3 Lord of the rings or 3 episodes of Star Wars in one day if need be.😅

EMP is probably the only thing I've never prepared for. Every thing else is mostly covered. Anything electric or electronics can be affected the EMP. The peace and quiet should be super, but the other things needed will be. Thank you JR for your series, very useful survival information.

Not all rechargeable batteries would survive a emp. A lot of them have a small bms circuit built inside of them to regulate the charging and discharging. If you are using rechargeable batteries then wrap them with several layers of foil and foil tape, and wrap a usb battery charger as well. Use 5 to 6 layers of foil to protect them and seal it with the foil tape. Most solar charger controllers now have usb ports on them that you can use to recharge the batteries with a usb battery charger. Just know that Any battery will lose power just sitting.

Hearing and being reminded of these suggestions just highlights how greatly my ex husband failed me, and continues to fail himself. Any man who fails to safeguard his family (when having the financial means to do so) will be the downfall of many family units.

Some men aren’t even aware or concerned about prepping. You must be concerned about your family and friends so much moreso by taking matters into your own hands instead of blaming someone. You sound like one of those men bashing feminist weaklings. Be a strong woman and don’t waste energy on an ex that doesn’t matter anymore. No one wants to hear it.

Light discipline = shoot here. Thought someone on my team was smoking a cigarette. Nope, a ground burst simulator that did not "warn". That will clear your sinuses. My drone and a tablet (full of documentation) are protected with everything else. Did not think of power tools, gonna need another garbage can. Good info on the maps! Remember, stack beans and brass before gold and silver. But have some. At least junk silver.

👉Have you trusted in the 🩸blood🩸 of Jesus ✝👈? Here is the bad news, we are ALL sinners and our sins separate us from a holy and righteous almighty God. Here is the good news, Jesus died for the forgiveness of all sins to anyone who believes in his finished work on the cross where he died, was buried, and resurrected on the third day. Paying the sin debt that we could never pay by ourselves and giving all believers in his sacrifice the promise of eternal life. For by grace are we saved through faith in Christ; and that not of yourselves; it is a gift from God; not of works, lest any man should boast. We are seconds away from disaster! Please find Jesus before it is too late because tomorrow is not promised! 🙏♥🕊
