Ha! Good analogy :) Sometimes I wear both knives, especially with a new brand or if a tool feels a little different than what I'm used to

There's no better way to learn about safety gloves than actually ripping into your thumb with a carving knife. Needless to say, I am now proud owner of safety gloves. I didn't know about the athletic tape so that's something I will look into as well. Thanks a bunch for the videos!

Oooch! Been there, and know what you are going through. Just have to keep an eye on where those blades are pointed regardless of if you have a glove on or not.

My two accidents was poking, not cutting. ... and both happened exactly like a friend of mine said, the way he told. Chainmail glove is my friend now.
@CarvingisFun Жыл бұрын
Def use chainmail for the pokes, probably the best option for that.

Gloves and tape is definitely a difficult subject. There is no best solution. It's more just keep trying different solutions until you find what works. I'm still looking and have some more protection arriving. I also occasionally use a lightweight Stanley vise which I can clamp to my kitchen table. But it is awkward. Keep up the good work - your content is excellent. 👍

Thanks! I had a hard time figuring out what works and what doesn't. Eventually, I found that it is situational for me and have a few different options on hand if I need them. I have my own vice on the bench (literally behind the camera) but found it to be more cumbersome than helpful.

Harbor Freight has a pair of cut resistant gloves with rubberized grip for only $5, or even less if you use one of their 30% off coupons. It's what I use when I do my carving.

Thanks! I was wondering which gave enough dexterity for carving but provided enough protection, at least, for slicing cuts from slip ups
@CarvingisFun4 жыл бұрын
Welcome! Most every kevlar reinforced cutting gloves I have used had good dexterity. The ones with the rubber palms are slightly less but still great options.

Thanks for your video. I have read that these gloves can leave a black residue on the wood. Have you found this to be true? Also, does the rubber wear off over time?
@CarvingisFun3 жыл бұрын
In my experiences, the gloves with the rubber grips don't leave black smudges but can wear out over time.

@CarvingisFun Жыл бұрын
I personally haven't found any with a light rubber color, but you can also use gloves with leather palms or rubber dots instead.
@michelegrand3921 Жыл бұрын
@@CarvingisFun oui en effet, j’utilise déjà ces gants là à picots. Mais ils sont moins protecteurs des lames pointues tél que le couteau finition Flexcut qui m’est rentré dans le doigt malgré le gant.

What about gardening gloves?... have you ever tried them?, even when you where a beginner?
@CarvingisFun3 жыл бұрын
I did, bit they were very cumbersome and the lack of dexterity immediately made me change over to my shop gloves. If you have gardening gloves that are more form fitting they would work, mut most I have used were really thick and bulky.
