I fitted a Tempered Glass Mono LCD screen protector specific to my Saturn which just covers the screen area only. I find them easier to fit than the plastic myself personally. Basically as long as your screen is perfectly clean then you should get a bubble free fit also if you do get a leak in the future the tempered glass may be easier to clean? I also thought I may have to change settings but didn't have to change anything so maybe the claimed light transmittance of 95% was correct as on a 2S exposure that's only 0.1S difference so pretty much insignificant IMO.

I just bought a pack of these for my Epax E10-8k after a pinhole leak in the NFEP ruined the factory screen protector. It’s working great so far and the E10 4k/5k version fits fine. They don’t have any appreciable change to the UV exposure that I have found. You need to be super careful when removing the factory screen tape so you don’t damage the cable to the screen. The thought of ruining that big expensive screen makes my blood pressure hit the roof.

Nice to finally see screen protectors made for the 3d printers. After having the issue of having to replace a screen after resin cured on I've been using the thin phone screen protectors on my elegoo. Works great. Now we can get proper fitting protectors.

Alternatively you can use a thin sheet of plexiglass. I cut out some pieces to fit my mono x screen and then I fixed it to the screen with some strong weather resistant tape. Worked like a charm

Taped a spare FEP sheet and used some APT High Temperature Polyimide Tape around it on the edges on mine. Pro: Costs practically no money, that tape is ultra cheap and since its just an FEP sheet its extremely easy to replace and obviously there won't be any kind of issue printing through an extra FEP sheet. ;) Con: None. :D

Considering you likely bought a pack already, just using one screen from the pack for extra protection is all but free. Push comes to shove you can still use that sheet on the vat if you need to.

Did you change any of your settings after placing the FEP sheet on your screen? All of my printing attempts after that failed! Only the first layer is printed and it stacked in the resin tank :/

Q: Can this replace the fep screen protector that comes preinstalled on the saturn s? The one that's surrounded by black tape? I recently had a critical failure and resin cured on that fep screen protector and I wasn't sure if I needed to replace that, or if I could get away with just using this and taping off the edges. Uncle Jessy - I wish I can upload pictures to show your audience exactly what your talking about. I just finished a print this morning on my Saturn and noticed that something was odd. Sure enough, my plastic spatula must of caught something before the print as I was mixing the resin and a hole was born! TG my tank was tight and a Screen Saver from Mach5ive! Now all I have to do is replace the FEP and screen protector instead of possibly having to replace the screen like I had to do the last time this happened to me. Hey Jessy! I'd love if you made a video for showing how (if possible) viable it is to use a Resin printer in an apartment or smaller enclosed space without a lot of room. Options or things you can do to reduce fumes or smells. I have wanted to get a Resin printer for a long time but have resisted because I don't really have the space. I don't know if this is possible but would love to hear your thoughts.

I have the Elegoo saturn, honestly when the lid is closed there isn't much smell. Also you could get some resin that doesn't smell extremely bad, I like the Siraya Tech Abs like resin. If you have any windows or anything when pouring the resin or washing the prints I would recommend opening the window and possibly getting a fan.

I print in an apartment. I used to vent my OG Photon out the window with a DIY exhaust duct, but now with my new Photon Mono 4K, any fumes stay inside the printer and so far, with the Siraya Tech Fast that I've been using, I can barely smell it even standing right at the printer, with the cover off. Elegoo has these rechargeable carbon filter things though, I always thought they didn't work, but that's because they're meant specifically for these sorts of printers, and not ones like the OG Photon where the printer's air is exhausted directly to the outside. You put them inside the print chamber, and they constantly recirculate the air through the filter, so that by the time you take off the cover, it's scrubbed the worst of the VOCs from the air inside the printer. There's far more fumes from the IPA I use to clean the prints than there is from the resin itself, so I make sure I've got ventilation going for that. 👍

Uncle Jessy, On this video when you leveled the Mars 3, I see you hit the home button and then tightened without doing the slight .01mm raise and then setting the Z. Was that intentional because you don't need to or because you were doing it fast for this video?

Of course having screen protector is nice, but I wonder in case you got leaked resin cured on the screen is it possible to use the 'clean vat' function to create a whole layer of cured resin and peel with together with the initial cured spots & blobs? (the tricky part would be to pour more liquid resin on your screen, just enough to form a layer when needed, but not too much so that it leaks all around ... perhaps an improvised /3d printed or space/ vat w/o the FEP would be useful to contain the resin only on the screen?)

Thanks very helpful, I know it’s a matter of time till I have a blowout. Did you leave the factory installed black tape around the edge of the glass? I am considering lightly sanding the edges of my build plate to slightly ease the edges. I’ve noticed my FEP has s slight dent in one corner where the plate compressed into the FEP due to my screwup, I was thinking slightly rounding the edges might reduce the chance of a puncture,

Serious question Jessie, are you just plugging these protective sheets, or do they truly work for Mono X? Right after I watched your video i followed your link to Amazon. The reviews on the product page are opposite what you said in the video. Most of the reviews that I seen were 1 star totally negative. I trust a lot of what you say and show us in your videos, but looking out in protecting an expensive machine, one does have to ask questions.

Hi, thanks for you video. I just got an anycubic mono and i got a screen saver with the machine. But i had an other problem. On thé bottom of the z axis, there is a hole and the motor is fixed behind. During thé replacement of the resin, some of the resin spilled inside thé hole and fucked up my motor. Do you have any solution to protect the stepper motor ? Or maybe any other idea ?

This is such a dumb question. Is it necessary to put on those black stickers? I ended up not doing it, and the original black strips that hold the screen just cause so many bubbles and just mess up the prints. Are those black stickers easy to remove in case I need to replace the screen???

I don't see how you can avoid all air bubbles. Even if you place the screen protector perfectly when you put the vat on top there are always air gaps between the screen and the FEP. Can you remove them (while the vat is empty and clean), and is it worth doing at all? I've printed all my prints with these random air bubble under the FEP and had no problems (that I haven't created myself when testing with minimum lightest supports even :))

I've in using an ipad 10.5" screen protector (soft ones not polycarbonate) and trimmed to fit in my Saturn for a year now and since day 1, no issues... and no leakages in any way, but I'm sure that if I don't put it I have issues, Murphy's law.

These do work well and last a long time. I bought them at the recommendation of another youtuber. Previously I had lost a few screens to resin. I run a small 3d print business and I really recommended these. I use them on 2 Mars, Phrozen Sonic Mini, and will be in stalling it on my Mono X now that they make for that machine.

Slightly slower prints and about 0.5mm lower z-axis are the downfalls. It's a good thing they come in 2-packs. First one sucked dust to it immediately and the microfiber cloth sticks to the bottom side. Also, be sure to increase exposure times (standard and bottom) by 3%. (Just ask Siri or whatever) Otherwise the prints come out fine and no Z-issues.

I work with paint protection film for cars, the film is completely clear, do you think this film can work as well?

I tried using some clear transparent paper and it ended up messing up the prints. At first I thought it was the fact that the paper was not sticking to the LCD but I had been using a PEF sheet with no issues and that was all over the place. I am pretty sure it is the refractive properties of it. I might try using a different type transparency something a little thicker that will not have such a weird effect on the prints, but at this point I am thinking I will go with a thin piece of Plexiglass glass like .04 mm and see what that does.

Jessie, I am sorry, but I cannot endorse the Mach5ive screen protectors. Their customer service is stellar. However, on my Mono X 4K the protective sheets would not adhere to the left short edge of my screen. An air bubble the length of the short edge just would not be removed. Mach5ive and I worked for a couple days trying to solve the issue only to realize, these sheets would not work with that long air bubble along the edge in the printable area.

Interesting that the Phrozen 8k specifically says not to use screen protectors, but they also say not to level the build plate without their assistance as well. Not even providing instructions on how to level it if you need to. Edit: I now know they now have a guide on their youtube page.

The Mach 5 ones work OK. Hard to install, I've ruined 2 of them by a piece of dust. They also can get sucked up off the screen if you have a lot of vacuum force and make air bubbles.

I gotta ask...why? I've been working with resin for over a year and don't see the need for this. Seems like you're creating more space between the screen and the build plate. I've barely had to wipe down my screen in that time, Only when changing resin do I give it a quick wipe if I have to take off the vat. Open to hearing others experience

You rarely see a need for homeowner's insurance until the day your house catches fire. If you're very careful, and lucky, you will never have a FEP leak, and these screen savers will feel superfluous. But in the event you are not careful or if a leak happens for a reason beyond your control, you may find the $35 a worthwhile investment.

I've been using overhead transparency film, held down by Capton tape, partly because I had both on hand, but also because I've never found any discussion of removing a screen protector. I know some can be very hard to remove from a phone or tablet. Can you talk about what's involved in getting one off of a printer? You imply you can just peel it off. Really?

Gotta love when these people that have a spill ask for help when every other post in any group is "put a damn screen protector on". I got a Chitu systems glass protector for my Saturn and the Mach5 for the Mars 3. Just remember people. It WILL likely eventually happen. Just get a protector or use the search function instead of asking (again) what to do after it does happen.
