protecting good brake lines so they DON’T RUST (so EASY soooo worth it)

When your car is new is the time to treat your brake lines so they won’t rust if there’s salt on the road, the salt is going to destroy your brake lines. This car here is in good shape and has about 30,000 miles on it. I have a brake line from a car that has 110,000 miles on it and they are completely destroyed. So you want to protect your breaks when they’re new then it’ll be a lot easier to deal with when the cars got extra miles on it.

when i was in the us navy they used a primer paint called red lead if you can get that put it on all your brake lines, they will not rust, if not just buy nico copper brake lines they will not rust. why the new cars do not have those i do not know, brakes and exhaust are 2 very important parts so ya do not die.

Great video. I just replaced front shoes, rotors and calipers, along with four new shocks on my 2000 Ranger. It's been a pretty good truck overall however, they are notorious for cheap, cheap brake lines. (Death traps) I've always wondered if you could coat the lines and bleeder screws with some kind of sealant and now that you've shown me how, I will apply this technique. I always thought the fluid in the lines gets so hot that any type of coating would simply melt off. But now that I have brand new lines, I'll give it a shot. Thanks so much for making this vid. Every time I go into work on the brakes are usually give a coat of this extend. Even if it’s a new car there’s no harm in giving it a coat. I’m surprised that with our Honda pilot at 100,000 miles, The brake lines rotted off, the transmission line rotted off and then the power steering line rotted off. Every time I am working near those components on any car I put the extend on those as well. If they are so rusty that I have to replace them I always replace them with nickel copper line. You can buy it in bulk online cheaper than the auto parts store. It’ll cost about half online. Thanks for the comment.

I jus spray mine with penetrating oil n grease. Somebody will appreciate the prevention especially for the bleeders.

oil will make salt stick to them and rust them quicker...
