Protecting Japanese Maple Trees | Wiggle Wire Shade Cloth Install

Nice. You might wanna hit those wooden parts of that framing with some stain or paint before it starts hetting wet.

It is Cedar wood, so it will be fine as is.

are you able to show us your tables in a little bit more detail? not just the wiggle wire set up but where youve got your seedlings set up. ive got about 150 at the moment and am struggling with a solid place for them while they are so young. was considering building a framed table with shade cloth around it, but am open for suggestions. thanks!

That is a good idea for a future video. Thank you. I definitely recommend a raised up surface to grow them on and shade cloth is a must if it will be in full sun.

Hi Jonny, I have a ? thats been driving me nutz. the past month Iv'e been digging up seedlings from maple trees, there are about 20 trees on this property. I can never find seedlings under the Laceleaf cultivars but have found many many under and around the other varieties including Bloodgoods. Does the laceleaf trees have 5 or 7 points when they are seedlings and then when they grow older develop into 7 like the mother tree? I do see seedlings under the laceleaf trees but I don't know if they just blew under them because they only have a 5 point leaf. Thanks for your help and if anyone else knows the answer please help me out ?

Seeds often don't grow true to the mother plant. I have seen dissectum lace leaf type seedlings grow from non-dissectum variety seeds. Additionally, does your lace leaf variety have seeds? JM trees have to reach a certain maturity to grown seeds... and some varieties don't grow seeds at all.

@@JonnyMaple yes they're are full of seeds right now. I believe all the trees here were planted around 1985. I really appreciate your feedback.👍

I generally use either 50% or 40%, with 50% being better.
