This was the easiest, cheapest method i could find on KZbin! Thank you !

That was really, really timely and helpful! This growing season we have been plagued by squirrels, chipmunks, birds and rabbits munching on EVERYTHING in the garden. Something has even taken a liking to my African marigolds! I guess there's a first for everything. I will definitely implement this method. Thank you!

Thanks for the helpful video. This is great for seedlings but what do you do to keep squirrels away from tomato and bean plants when they start to produce fruit?
@HamiltonRb4 жыл бұрын
That’s the problem I had where they would take one bite from the tomato then leave the rest. I then switched to chicken wire which kept out rabbits but squirrels can climb anything, so last year I bought a greenhouse and problem solved

Thank you for such an informative video. Hopefully this will deter the squirrels and rabbits from using my garden as their personal smorgasbord!😂 have a great 2024 season.

Great video. I didn't realize bird netting would keep out squirrels. Don't they just chew through the plastic netting?
@civivivj4 жыл бұрын
Yes they do
@williemasterofdestruction53392 жыл бұрын
Yeah... Even chicken wire can be dug under. I've given up on trying to grow in-ground However, fabric smartpots have kept gophers out and with chicken wire on the sides and bird netting over the top untill plants are huge nothing (even chickens!) Seems to damage any plants

Funny how this vid just popped up. I've been using irrigation hose that's been chewed up by squirrels. Props to my phone for spying on me... 😆👌

What about voles? Do I need to lay metal screening on the bottom of my raised bed? Thank you. Your chickens sound so happy.

Thank you for posting this helpful video. Does the hose ever kink when arching it to the other side? I will use your approach next year. I just set up netting over newly planted seeds and learned 2 lessons: A large 14'x14' square of netting is hard to work with, so will swtich to narrow in the future; and netting catches on any little imperfection of the scrap lumber I used to construct a simple frame for the netting. :) Now I understand the brilliance of your approach, especially using a smooth material - the irrigation hose.
@ReneesGardenSeeds2 жыл бұрын
Yes, the hose may kink. If it's too far gone, we get new hose.

Thank you, Lindsay. Great video, clear and well edited. Just curious, do you have gophers? The beds aren't very high so was wondering if you sue gohper wire or hardware cloth on the bottoms. Thank you, Tim
@ReneesGardenSeeds5 жыл бұрын
Yes, we dig down and lay gopher wire before the bed is constructed. Here's an article about how we do it: cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0844/5779/files/raised-bed_d1e6342d-79f4-434a-962b-51273e0c40fc.pdf?465
