A man can make a decent profit it he cuts his losses...Why? Out of 10 trades. five lose on average by simply randomly taking all 10 next trades over time....The five which lose, you only lost one bar, whereas the five that win, a few produced 5 or more profitable bars. A few might have only made 2 profitable bars and the rest produced only one profitable bar. Overall, you lost 5 bars, and the one large winner covered all these losses. The rest of the 4 profitable bars might overall produce 7 profitable bars. After 20 years of study, I never realized this truth until Oliver pointed out the one bar loss concept. ....Genius

What time frame do you think is best to trade on. As of right now I trade on the 1 minute, 2 minute, 3 minute and 5 minute.
@lanrewajuelufisan12712 жыл бұрын
Oh, these time frames will not let you see the market's big picture. Move to using daily, 4h, 1h, and maybe 15mins for entry.

Hey there, I have been trading for about 6 months now and just about every trade slaps me in my face. Nearly impossible for me to catch more than a few points . I try to do top down analysis and MTF analysis, but it doesn't work for me . I say to myself, clearly I'm in the 90% that lose money, so I open a demo account, do my analysis, then take the opposite of what I would normally take(I know, it sounds stupid but I was desperate) and get the same result. I'm starting to feel hopeless, any advice for a struggling trader?
@abdurrashid6493 жыл бұрын
Your problem could be that your stop loss is way too close or you're watching your trades too much. Place it and walk away. Or you could just give up, trading isn't for everyone.
@mattis52893 жыл бұрын
@Lincoln Collison You're right, I don't lose money every single trade, but my main problem is trying to let my runners run. Very rarely do I catch big moves . Instead they go a few pips in my direction, then go against me if when I try holding them. Also my entries could use a lot of improvement. A mentor would be amazing, but getting one is easier said than done. If it's not too much to ask, do you know any?

WHATS THE BEST TIME FRAME
@followtodraw3 жыл бұрын
Hi Oliver, do you mean if there is bull elephant bar bellow moving averages near 20 ma and after that bar there is small green bar but in the range of previous bull elephant bar than red bar should break this bull elephant bar not a small bar that cane after the bull elephant one. And stop should also be above one penny on that bull elephant bar. Am I getting it right? Thanks

your problem might be 1 or all of following:- 1) not using stoploss 2)too much money invested in 1 trade as per your capacity 3)not deciding target and stoploss before entry. Which means no trading plan or weak trading plan. 4)over trading Correct these and you will become profitable

Drawing 200 MA is ambiguous on short time frame chart like 2 min,15 min ,Dear Oliver or anyone can clear this problem????
@DB-xe3ws3 жыл бұрын
it might work better to have that structure, but if 200 feels irrelevant you can backtest any other longer term moving average on the instrument you trade. Choose what works and don't deviate. If you can't find another, just use the lower MA only and base your strategies around that and/or additional price action

Own a core position long term, eg, (T)QQQ, then sell a covered call around each 100 shares of the core position. THAT happens to be a hedge fund secret for consistently winning big long term, beating the well known indexes.
