Absolutely love this video! I’m Indigenous Mexican so we have our own ways of doing protection and cures from the evil eye. The most popular is ofc the egg but we all do it differently and have certain prayers we say with it. But a charm that I love dearly is we wear a necklace or bracelet with a seed called ojo de venado (eye of the deer) and we use it to protect from evil eye and bad medicine.

I didn’t believe in the evil eye until one night i had a nightmare of a cat leading me away from a close friend into an abandoned house and transforming into a huge creature that bit out my jugular. Afterwards, I experienced a few days of bad luck too. Later that week my sister told me in Nigerian folk tradition people don’t let cats into their house because evil magic is able to hitch a ride on them regardless of how many protections you have. I did a reading and realized it was an unintentional evil eye my close friend gave me because i made a new friend and introduced them to each other. I solved it by just spending some quality time with him.

I remember one night I had a dream that I was in the house and it was dark and there was this yellow snake slithering outside of the door. The one thing that I know for sure is that the Devil picked the wrong one to mess with. He does his best to trick people but we both know that my God is greater. All you need to do is plead the precious blood of Jesus over yourself, and worship the Lord. Not every nightmare is demonic some just happened, but when it’s an attack like that you need to remember that Jesus is all you need. You could also ask people to pray over you and declare God‘s word. Psalms 4:8- I will both lie down in peace, and sleep; For You alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.

I'm Irish and the evil eye used to be a big belief here. If someone looked at something you had such as your crop, your cow, your churn or even your child with envy, then your crop may fail, your cow may die, your child might get sick or your churn may not yield any butter. It was particularly important to protect against the evil eye here at May time to ensure a good output. Iron and things like horseshoes in the bottom of the churn was used as protection.

This was so interesting! I am from Bulgaria, the majority of the people here (if not all) believe in the evil eye. We call it "uroki" or "urochasvane" here. Usually when we give compliments, especially for young children or babies, and the end of the sentence we say "pu-pu" (or we make the sound you made in the video) which is like a little protection or we can also say something that translates to "may the evil eye not find you". People usually put red thread on babies' wrist and sometimes adults wear them too. Sometimes it's a red thread with a blue eye or something similar. Recently, I found out that some people, when gushing over a baby or a cute child, they say stuff like "may chickens poop on you" to protect it from evil eye, which I find hilarious (and as you said in your video, we also say someone is ugly, but we say it lovingly :D so we could protect them from the evil eye) :D As I'm writing this comment I start to remember other things we do in Bulgaria. I know some mothers have little sayings they use before taking their baby out among people, so they could protect it from the evil eye

My great grandmother was an Italian immigrant, and my grandma and I recently organized her old jewelry. We found a whole trinket box full of Italian protection charms that either belonged to my great grandma or her mother. One of the things we found several of were little pins with religious figures or symbols like roses or horseshoes. My aunt said my great grandma would pin them to her bra to ward off bad luck and evil spirits. This video was super helpful, thank you!

So u need to know a secret before you can experience Jesus healing energy. So I had a bounty on my head put on me from the devil himself. So I obtained the Elijah spirit from heaven. But I was a lost sheep. That means once I believed an then I didn't. So it didn't work for me as well. The devil sent a tin can full of fallen angels. An f in big foots I destroyed all of them. But they could turn back time then an they brought all back but couldn't bring back the big foots. An left me the same. 167 stitches broken back. Paralyze left hand an a carbon fiber right shine bone. So the devil seen I could pull energy from other energy an wanted me to heal an get stronger an then take my power. So he had me train in hell fighting I got so strong when I go to train my training partners would be hiding an wouldn't show there self they would rather hide from me knowing D was going to torture them. Anyhow I ended up after fighting through the ranks ripping the soul out the devil after he went dragon just to make it a fair fight. So now u can experience Jesus healing energy All old aches and pains will be washed away takes 30 minutes Best to relax and shut yr eyes

Mexican here! We also believe in the evil eye or "mal de ojo." My grandmother taught me that if we give someone a compliment on something they have, we have to touch that object with our hand so it doesn't receive evil eye. Personal story: I have nails that are naturally long, so when people in my community have said my nails are pretty, they touch every single one to avoid giving them evil eye. Those instances where someone has not touched them while complimenting, I've had my nails break. Very interesting!

In the Philippines, we have Usog - which is a hex inflicted by a stranger or someone who is jealous. Some people can spread Usog unintentionally - sometimes when someone yells even if it's a greeting. When meeting a baby for the first time, you are a stranger to them - and will likely hex the baby with usog. One way to prevent this is to wipe saliva on the baby and say the words "Pwera usog" which means "go away, usog".

My maternal grandmother (I'm Italian, born and raised) was VERY wary of invidia (envy), she always stressed not talking to anyone about anything because of the risk of jinxing everything. She was a bit excessive, but I often have to give her credit, because people are actually mean and gossipy. I don't think that she knew how to take it away, but she had an entire collection of corni that she always pinned to her bra for protection. And she wasn't spiritual at all, it was just personal belief.

I don't know if other germans do that, but were I am from people knock on the table 3 times or they cross their fingers to basically cross back. Other ways are spitting 3 times behind each shoulder (the mouth motion with sound is enoug!). Most of that is for evil eyes and hexes. Alternatives are throwing salt and if people want to 'curse' someone, wich I do not aprove of, they spit 3 times after they passed by that person or they thought about that person. The 3 times spitting can also be used like saying a teu teu teu (basically wishing u good luck with something). I personally believe that spitting 3 times can be used to let go of an intention and to basically send it out to were ever u want to send it. So if u use that for good or bad is your decision. Also I feel like that many people were I grew up, saw curses and evil eyes as kinda the same or they see them as kind of hexes. Its like folklore that somehow stuck around. Usally also every village had some kind of old wise lady in the past till today, that did something called laying her hands on someone, when they were sick or the doctor did not know how to help them. Many old people told stories like that from their childhood so all of that was prior the Internet. Sadly most of the times those ladys were left alone, out of fear untill they needed their help, but I can olny share the stuff that I grew up with its all mouth to mouth talk, wich means nothing is writen down unless a family had a book or so that they kept save. When I was a child I did not sleep at night and my mother brought me to the ( she called it 'Besprechfrau' = meaning a women that is able to use words to kinda enchant u) wise Lady of our village and after that I sleeped at night, but I always remained a night owl. Some people also wore safty pins with salt sacks to protect themselfs during hexes or so, fellt like I should mention that as well. I also heard from a friend of mine that their polish mom puts a red blanket on someone if the evil eye or a curse did hit someone. Her Mom had that form her grandma and aparently that worked fine so far. Anyhow I hope that reading that wasn't boring, lovely day to everyone. 🧿💚😅

In my tradition (Polish/Kashubian household) throwing salt (over left shoulder), knocking on (unpainted)wood and faux spitting around (sometimes accompanied by words "na psa urok"/"hex go on dog instead") are pretty universal reversal for everything bad. And specific protection against evil eye will be red string or ribbon tied in close proximity or if possible on object of envy/jealousy. It's supposed to "catch the eye" and work as distraction so someone putting evil eye can't look on the object long enough to make it happen (putting evil eye requires prolonged stare, couple seconds at least and thoughts and feelings of envy or jealousy). I saw red pompoms instead, but I think they are more Polish Highlanders style. No matter the form - it's always red and almost always moves a lot so it will be more distracting. Removing all bad stuff: burning herbs (juniper, rue or garden sage) or amber. Burning amber is very Kashubian way of banishing and cleansing :)

My tradition is also Polish. I spot on the streets in Poland that people still put red ribbon on babies' stroller. It's believe that babies would get an evil eye more often. I got an evil eye once, and I was advised to rub my underwear on my face. It's folk method that I know. Throwing salt, knocking on wood etc. are more casual. At least that's what I was taught

Question: I’m an Italian and I’ve lived in Italy my whole life. For the life of me, nobody in my family or friends will buy me a Corno, because 1) It’s against the teachings of the Catholic Church, or 2) They think it’s bs. I have bought one for myself and worn it for a few days. Can’t say I noticed things getting any worse than they have been. Is it okay for an Italian to wear the Nazar 🧿 eye and/or the 🪬 hand? Even if it belongs to a different culture? I desperately need an amulet against malocchio, because I’m almost 100% sure I’ve had it all my life, starting from the moment my mother was pregnant with me, and then there’s no way I haven’t repeatedly received the evil eye throughout my life.

I can give you several examples of Malochio thrown my way, from men being jealous of women driving or confidence or other people just not liking you for their own "cultural" or "egotistical/jealous" reasons. Especially if you are a very sensitive person, you can connect the dots. If you can manipulate energy, then so can another-remember that, and sometimes it's not good. On a few occasions I was trying to be friendly to a neighbor, let's say where the men don't like Western women, by saying hi, and when I walked by, I tripped and almost sprained my ankle. This happened on 3 occasions in a particular neighborhood, when I was feeling happy and positive, literally by the stares of hateful men, the same thing happened, after that, I realized the negative energy and principalities in this area and the reality of evil eyes of hatred directed at a person, especially one trying to get their life back together. Another time, I was at a library coffee shop and sat on a chair waiting for someone. The old lady kept staring at me. I was feeling uncomfortable and suddenly the atmosphere changed. It became her energy. She kept looking at me and I moved and almost fell off my chair! I stared at the woman HARD and she looked like she was goona run and hide. She wanted me off that chair donna, and my light was irritating her and I'm not one to flaunt my business, but hell, let me have a good day. The evil eye is strong when there are cultural wars as well. When once wants to overpower another's energy for control. I am learning that holding on to your energy AND focusing on yourself are powerful ways of shielding oneself, but there are still those who will stare and try to get to you. Too much negativity in this world.

For me it is all of these together and it is very unfrequent. The only way it got rid of it was thank to a lady who does this in italy and it went away immediatelly. I do know that my pastor mentioned that sometimes with spiritual attack like that, demonic attacks, I’ve heard of some people getting dizzy and sick. In that case definitely go to the hospital, but afterwords it’s so important to just surrender your life to the Lord. I don’t know if anyone has ever told you this but I’ll be straight forward with you, there’s only one God, everything else is demonic. If I was you I would get a Bible and just start reading. If you need some comfort I’d start with the book of psalms, if you need a jumpstart in your life I would start with the book of Matthew and potentially revelation

This was such a nice video, and it got me thinking, are hiccups associated with the Mal'occhio? This might be a silly question but I ask this because my mom is from Italy and she told me that whenever she used to get hiccups when she was young, her mother would tell her "Sei Brutta" which roughly translates to "you're ugly" and its supposed to make the hiccups go away. This may just be some weird connection I made up but if anyone has the answer I would love to know :)

!!! I can totally see that. That may even be a regional or familial tradition that I’m not familiar with!

I have a tattoo with my nannys ashes in it. Do you know how i would go about making contact with her and turning it into a protective tattoo? When i was getting it done i visualized the memory of her saying even after she dies she'll always be in my heart and will protect me, but i dont know if that was enough to create a sigil/charm or not. Any information would be so helpful, thank you in advance!

I'm italian and I enjoyed this video. I just wanted to let you know that here nobody says "che dio ti benedica" unless they are very very old. Mostly because the people who say that are of catholic belief and, trust me, young people here are most likely to be atheist. Not every italian witch believes in god or in saints. Ps. the way you pronounce "malocchio" is really cute💗 thank you for spreading information

Thank you! I've been told that a couple times, and I find it to be more of an Italian American thing now, - me & my friends tend to say it to each other or say some version of it (even though we're not Catholic!)

I'm from Mexico. And I don't know if this is a widespread practice, but it is something we do in my family. We prevent ourselves from *giving* the evil eye by acknowledging, blessing and finding ways to obtain said thing without taking it away from someone. This may look like: My mother toughing my grandmother's new ring so she won't give them the evil eye. Saying a blessing for they new baby in the family. Asking for a taste of someone's food or asking for the recipe. * The first time I was ever aware of accidentally giving someone the evil eye was at a restaurant. I was staring at this man who was eating a delicious looking meal. I was starving and hand learnt enough to read a menu yet. And the next thing I know all that delicious looking food is smeared down the front of dess shirt. My mom explained to me what happened and I've been more careful ever since.

Wanting someone else’s food does not put a curse on them. The truth that I know no matter what anyone says is that there is only one God, and everything that He says is true. Jesus is the way, he is the truth, and he is the life. The best thing you can do is to give your life to Jesus. He is so much better than you think

I'm partway through the video, just wanted to comment saying that I appreciate the advice on not unintentionally *giving* the evil eye to someone. Of course I've no intention of putting negativity on anyone. Jealousy or envy is natural and of course I feel it from time to time, even if I'm happy for them, and I don't want to put that kind of bad energy on someone. But I'm a bit unclear on something. If for example I'm feeling jealous or envious of someone and I don't say or do anything about it, do you think that would mean I shouldn't have to worry about it? Or would giving it at least a bit of a blessing thought be a good idea anyway? Sidenote: While I'm generally new to my practice, early on I focused a lot on protection when going out and just in general, but recently I've put a halt on that unless I get the feeling that I should for that particular day or outing etc. Lately I've been feeling really open and not worrying about needing protection. In a sense, I'm wanting to feel the feelings and experience things that might come to me, good or bad. Obviously I don't want to attract bad things, I just don't want to block out the world if that makes sense. I see it like kind of equivalent to when I go out with headphones on to hopefully ward off people speaking to me when I don't want to speak, vs going out without them and being more open to social situations. Of course I always have some emotional barriers up and I feel pretty strong in my sense of self, so I'm not worried about anything in that sense. Just wondering your thoughts on that, or if sometimes you feel this way too! (Frankie or whomever may read this comment!) Anway, lovely video :) Learned a good bit, particularly about the Italian folk beliefs about it! Thank you.

I have heard somewere that jellousy and envy is like a redirection tool of the universe ( if u believe in that, I don't want to asume your believe system, I am just sharing my experiences😅💙) and that it basically means that is possible for u too and that u can say thankyou and set the intention to send a lot of love and light (or just gratitude or aprechiation to someone for helping u to realise what u actually desire for yourself, also depends on what light means to u). Ever since I started doing that I feel much more in peace with these emotions and actually happy when they show up during times, were I don't know what I want or can do in a situation. They are like a navigationsystem and that helps me to be more happy for other people, when I am mentally struggeling with being able to do so. Bevor all of that I always felt bad, when I had those feelings as if I did something wrong to have them again, since I did not experience many positive actions from others, because of their jelousy I thought I should not try to have it. After years of shadow work I am more intune with my emotions and apreachiate all or them, besideds the depressed episodes I don't like them, but I am gratefull for the stuff that they release😅🧿💚 Hope that helps. In the end trust your intuition and your own journey. ❤

Also maby u can set the intention for your protection rituals to not send your negativity towards someone else or someone inocent. I usally ask my spiritguides (can be anything with good intention at heart for u in my opinion like ancestors, deitys, angels etc) to put a protective layer for that around me to make sure I don't send anything out without my intention that would cause to much harm. Tipp don't let that fear hold u back, we are all human its ok to have emotions, they are part of us and can be very powerfull. Also personally for me, to be able to send out that much negativity without activly setting an intention to do so does not happen from feeling jellousy for one or few times. I feel like it needs a deep wound that caused so much harm that an aspect of a person is able to do that without them noticing it. Of course there are also people who are proud of the fact that they wish others ill, but I believe that to be rare and those people know what they were doing soo yeah. Also no one is born to hate others, but some people have to much to heal from and no intention or chance to do it. 🧿💙

Would more generic protections such as wearing hematite or obsidian help protect against the evil eye?
@ChaoticWitchAunt Жыл бұрын
Depends on your belief and tradition! Obsidian is mentioned as a protective amulet in Italian Magic: Secret Lives of Women against the evil eye - a lot of times the amulets or protective items were things that one could find around you or were easy to get (such as red coral, amber, etc). Short answer: yes
@tmpape01 Жыл бұрын
@@ChaoticWitchAunt Thank you. I don’t really have a tradition (in the usual sense) and just getting started in learning. I always wear an bracelet of obsidian and hematite almost with a couple of other charms that regularly charge for protection and didn’t know if those cover “The Evil Eye”. Loved the video btw, it really helped me understand the topic!

Jesus. All you need is Jesus. As a child I was raised with the truth, and so I know without a shadow of a doubt I would bet my very life that if there’s something demonic going on, all I need is Jesus. Worship, prayer, etc. But don’t let demons trick you. Even the very demons that are behind witchcraft know that God exists. I’m telling you, even when my grandmother tried to do a Ouija board with her friend the demon behind it was afraid and said it didn’t want to participate with a Christian

A fist with the thumb between the index & middle finger is one of the protections against Mel'occhio?
@ChaoticWitchAunt Жыл бұрын
Yes! It is the mano figa. It comes from the gesture being representative of the uterus/womb and the idea that touching ones' genitals will ward off the eye. It's also sometimes regarded as a vulgar gesture. Tocca coglione (touch nuts/balls) is another example of this to protect against the eye, where one physically grabs oneself.
