I love this style. I’m 8 years into my locs and I’m thinking of doing this on my hair tomorrow. I haven’t had a retwist in 3 months and this is right up my alley. I’ve had braids over my locs and I enjoyed that as well.

Shanny OnMyWay for me it’s going pretty smoothly i have 4c hair so i think that’s why my hair hold pretty well. but so far i’ve been lightly spritzing my hair with oil and water and just going about my day !

I’ve only had one unravel. I spray my hair daily. I try to do anything I can to promote tangles and knitting. That way it won’t unravel fully if it does

Such a good video! I usually braid over my locs. I’m about 10 months in. Mine are larger than yours so I have to braid them instead of twisting them. I would love to twist but it would be too bulky. Great job! Love the color. I put box braids in every month for the first four months of my journey.

Did you find protective styling easier with locs than loose hair? Also how long did this take to do? I’m considering loc’n my hair and I love doing protective hairstyles. I just dislikes when it takes 8 hours to do. I wanna know if it takes less time.

It was fast for me but painful - I did marley twists, which was my go to DIY style for six years as a natural but the pulling on my locks was killing me so I took it out. I think it works best if you have small locks, mine are thicker.

I think it’s slightly easier because you don’t have to worry about parts lol it still took me a long time to do though. The first day it was kinda tight, but after that, I was fine. I miss my locs so much that I might take them out today though 😭

Having protective styles over locs don’t inhibit the Loc’ing process as long as you don’t leave it in too long. In fact, I started my daughter’s locs using a protective style. I interlocked and added a crochet loc on top of that. Now she’s been locked a year with no problems.

when you took the hair out did you find you had a mini retwist or did you just immediately wash you hair and saw the new growth, so you had to retwist anyway? I'm just wondering to see if it will allow me to hold off on retwisting again....don't know if my question makes sense

How was it taking out your twists? I’ve heard of people doing protective style like this on their locs having dirt clumped at the root and having to comb out their locs and start their journey again

I have put my hair like this, but I used a gel with natural ingredients (main choice), but when I first started my locs and did this style I think I used Jam and I haven't found build up. It probably depends on how much product and what product used. I would only out the product on the roots and use sparingly.

Not true for everyone’s locs I have microlocs for 16 months I wear yarn braids over them from time to time without any damage plus I shampoo them also so I haven’t seen no build up matter of fact I have a set in now for about 2 weeks don’t believe everything you see on KZbin it’s not always the truth
