I don't understand,why is the government appointing traditional rulers,is this there job,why not appoint commissioners and leave traditional institutions to the traditional council,governors or president should leave our tradition and culture alone.

It is the job of the government to appoint any traditional rules. Traditional rules offices are under the local government.

@osayiabel710 what you are saying is that,it is the governor that appoints the oba of Benin and he can choose to appoint anyone he likes to become the oba?.

@@ugwuhchvhv4231 Yes go and read the 1999 Constitution. Oba overanwmen was deported to Calabar and for 27 years Benin had no oba until his son was appointed by the British. So all chieves as they are called under the chieftaincy and traditional affairs ministry are under the local government chairman where they receive their salaries and the local government chairman reports to commissioner of chieftaincy and local government affairs who then reports to Governor. They all under the local government council including the oba of Benin.

The governor promise to put fire in Edo if his party didn't win, that's what he's trying to do now, this case has been in the court for over 5 years now if I'm not mistaking, this is my mother's village and I'm fully aware of everything that's going on there. My uncle Mike Sado has already been coronated as the king of Okpella, but because he didn't support obaseki bid for Governor in 2020 that was why the governor refuse to give him the staff of office against the directive of the oba of benin who approved him because he was dully appointed according to costume and tradition. Now Obaseki want to cause a big problem in Edo North because they didn't vote for PDP by appointment Lookman as the king of Okpella, which the same Lookman is not even a true indigen of Okpella. Bcuz his father is not from Okpella just his mother, this is one of the governor plan to cause problem in the start. Clearly the people of Okpella will never accept this. Never.

Is Obaseki now in APC ? Because the protesters only made mention of the state governor of appointing a traditional ruler in their domain. How those that concern Apc,? Hmm nah wah . That's same thing Obaseki did in Edo South by creating another traditional institution for some Obubuyeye Enigies. . .
