Oh man, I'm gonna have to disagree. The only song on Volition I thought was forgettable was Mist. Also, Skies is now my favorite PTH song. That said, I can see why you'd think the album was mostly forgettable. You can really notice Moe's absence on the ones he didn't do (in my opinion at least) and without Moe's drumming PTH just doesn't sound the same. I personally liked it, but I can totally see why you might not like it as much as me.

"Stepped off the platform and he briefly made, Yeah, he briefly made the news It made the news and he made the trains run fifteen minutes late'' Pretty clear. This song is basically about how meaningless suicide actually is. Rody also mentioned that this song is also about celebrating the little things in your life that are worth living for. So it's not that macabre.
@PsionicMonk3 жыл бұрын
This is old as dirt in internet time but I think it's more so about how people don't find the suicide tragic but instead find the inconveniences tragic. Rather than people being sad someone choose to throw themselves in front of a train, they're upset they had to wait 15 minutes.
@nerothos2 жыл бұрын
@@PsionicMonk Yeah, that's my take as well. "Oh what a price to pay" meaning capitalist society places more value on those 15 minutes than someone's life ending. It's as macabre as it gets and rightly so.

The lyrics are just pure poetry. I am analyzing these lyrics for English Literature at the moment for an Oral Essay. We get to choose a song or a poem we like lyrically and explain and analyze the lyrics and the conventions used to write it. This song is just fueled with puns, dramatic irony, sarcasm, contrast, and vivid imagery.
