I have a question for the band: how does it feel to know that you are one of the most original, interesting, progressive, melodic, technical bands ever?, and that you are way more interesting musically than a lot of older "big brand" bands? Also, can you please start your Kickstarter stuff again, so we can help you to create more masterpieces, please?

Hey guys, it me, the drummer from the early days up-to-volition. Was just trying to find stupid videos of me with my dumb dreadlocks and ended up here. To answer your question ... we just made music that was fun to play, because we knew we'd have to play it 10000 times live. It was a happy accident anybody else wanted to listen to it too. To the fella in the thread asking about being a band from Ontario in the early 2000s .... there kind of wasn't anything else to do? it was either make music with our buds or else get into some real trouble, and we were all 'good kids'

The depth and detail to the composition is incredible - very romantic. Lots of major key sections and multi staff voice leading, picardy thirds, fugue fragments...these guys are monsters. Then, Rody comes afterwards and adds mind boggling vocals to what are full-fledged instrumental tunes already... musiciangasm!

@rebelScience5 жыл бұрын
Not sure what you mean, if you are talking about guitars starting off, it's just them playing on an open string and doing some pull-offs on some notes, then switching to dual-guitar arpeggios. If you are talking about a fast guitar part, they are called arpeggio.
@Rykiniafan15 жыл бұрын
@@rebelScience im wondering if that certain style (lead up with the guitars into a heavy part) has a name. like verse/chorus/break/bridge etc.
@rebelScience5 жыл бұрын
@@Rykiniafan1 Ok, I understand. In my opinion, Protest's music is so dynamic and active, that it is hard/impossible to categorize certain parts of the song. For me it is just another breakdown in the song. PTH music seems to be way too dynamic to fit into a classic standards of verse/chorus/break/bridge. But that's just my opinion.
@Rykiniafan15 жыл бұрын
@@rebelScience ye i thought its a lead up into a breakdown but it seemed too fast for one. but it really isnt a break even tho the drums are sick at that point nothing else really "takes a breather" so i guess i settle on unconventional breakdown :D thx for ur help :)

One of two metal bands from canada that are absolutely amazing(the other being blackguard which is a folk/death metal band). Every other amazing metal band comes from Finland, Sweden, Norway, and the such. But since more people encourage musical technique in those parts of the world, it makes sense that more would come from there. I just wish i had more chances to see amazing bands perform live. not many chances in canada.
