I'm conflicted. On one hand I served in the Army for 23 years. 6 combat deployments. I've raised my right hand 6 times to swear the oath of allegiance to this country so I understand and believe strongly in all of our constitutional rights. I used to love DC (was born and raised across the river in Alexandria). We were transferred to Houston about 10 years ago and while my wife and I go back to VA a couple times a year to visit family (holidays, etc.), I won't go downtown anymore. Its just so 3rd world anymore. BTW, I remember the riots of 68 and the anti-war "protest" marches and we still went into DC (the naval dispensary used to be across for the State Department and as a kid, I was always getting banged up) and those were some pretty wild times, but today's DC, I don't know, its just so f'd up.
