MyVi can be seen everywhere. Each time you scold a driver but you dunno his/her name you will just name the driver as "MyVi". After swearing at MyVi every day, you just can't imagine yourself driving a MyVi. You don't have to do a polling test to see which car gets cursed the most. I like MyVi latest model very much but hate the labelling. Iriz is a beautiful name and we rarely get a chance to meet a bad driver. Probably because the ride & handling is so good and with such comfortable cabin, the driver feels calm and relaxed. I've decided to get Iriz.

A lot of my friends were shocked when I chose iriz in 2014. What more when I decided to choose the 1.6 manual tranny. A lot of them said that it was a mistake. 5 years on, I must say it was the best car I've driven in the segment. The car just begs to be abused and driven hard.

The thing about Proton cars is that I highly recommend everyone to actually just change the tyres once you get your car. Because those Silverstone tyres are absolutely awful and completely ruin the Iriz and Persona's ride/handling and also refinement. Change em to some Continentals or Michelins and they completely transform the whole vehicle.

Myvi good for fuel save. And town driving. If highway, I think Iriz will give you more stability and confidence. Had drive both, both is good on different aspects. Fuel vs stability to be honest

I own a 2017 iriz premium. After 2 years ownership with 75k km mileage. the pro and con from my experience daily drive the car. Pro : 1. Really good handling 2. Front seat cabin space is spacious 3. Good fuel economy (moderate driving) 4. I seriously love the design inside and outside (more than the myvi) 5. Good semi bucket seat. Con : 1. CVT sooo noisy 2. Super cramped rearseat 3. Super duper cheap quality in most part interior and exterior. Example (this happen after few weeks of driving my brand new car) : the 2 rubber strip on the roof already fall off after i drove on the highway. Both my sideskirt broke into pieces after i pass thru huge speed bump because theres a stupid piece of plastic attached to sideskirt near the rear wheel. Soooo many annoying creaking sound inside the cabin , at the dashboard , at the side, the back , all over the place. And the list goes on Final verdict : i wanna sell my iriz. And get a better car with better quality like new mazda or x50 or something.

Mazda build quality also not that good. My facelifted gvc Mazda 3 has a lot of rattling. Since I bought the car new Jan 2018, have sent my car to service centre 12 times fixing all kinds of issues. And as for the rattling, it never seems to stop. Fix one area, another area rattle. Fix that other area, after 1-2 months another area rattle. Never seems to end. I was overall quite disappointed with my Mazda 3 purchase. Even my previous 2008 vios didn't rattle until its 10th year of life.

@@konchy now thats kinda disappointing since i heard people said mazda got "premium" build quality. If thats the case, my only choice is to wait for proton x50. (Got reliable info that the first batch is CBU x50 limited quantity this year. CKD malaysia sucks)

I'm facing the same problem.. the only reason I'm still stick with my 2015 iriz bcoz of the handling..juz sharing karak highway is our usual route but last month I need to drive my friend latest myvi.. I'm keeping my usual style of driving n almost hit the divider..so now I'm aware that I am a reckless driver but iriz handling system save me most of the time

lot of people compared this iriz with myvi..come on la caa..perodua has what?all things copy paste..even the engine too..body chassis?good handling?best safety features? nope perodua can't even dare to tell u their body chassis is and on the other hand proton make it with using HPF in all their model..haiyoo..try bring those two go genting run stock stock..then u will see who win in every corner and who will drift/slide first to longkang/walls..iriz has less body roll than myvi lorr..proton is well known for one of the best handling car in the world bro..proton cars already make their debut in wrc..the iriz putra satria what else? perodua?nopee..better not or u will kill all wrc drivers outthere..safety features it just a gimmick like hi proton..that things just help u with buzzing around if you're playing with u fon sleepy or whatever..but well malaysian right..myvi always right and always win that's it..

I think that's a safety standard even PERODUA test their car to go where it's pointed even when the tyre exploded. But if the rims destroyed because u change to taiwan made rims hmmm may god bless you.

Ride comfort definitely iriz. The seat is soooo comfortable in iriz, the suspension also the best in iriz. I just test ride picanto just now, not impressed at all.

Keyword here : bootspace and interior. Both car almost the same (tested both already) except for those 2 above. Some willing to tolerate the small bootspace, some feels all black interior feels crampy. Better check these 2 things yourself at their showroom.

both has same reliability, bro. Just choices of engine. If you want best reliability and don't mind driving Manual, both standard MT are good. Plus, the driving feel feels better than the CVT.

The fact that you are comparing 2 different segment in the same price range is showing that you care about the price thus my reply.. the refinement in the picanto is still better than the new iriz in the material quality and NVH and the driver comfort while in traffic. (Tested both in the city road).. and no.. this isnt a malaysian thing buyer in other market will always argue about the segment and price.. the most important thing is can someone afford it or not regardless of the car's segment

It happens once to me! Lucky I was at the pump inflating the tyre. All of a sudden the nozzle flies out and the tyre deflates totally in a second! Can't imagine what will happen if I were driving high speed on the highway !!!

It’s more of a PR handling decision issue here - IF, it is just mere luck; for example Proton has done everything necessary to QC before the test drive, and fully acknowledged the defect rate of whichever parts THEY CHOOSE to adopt in their products to be low enough. For consumer, whether it is vendor defect does not affect buying decision - If a few houses in new housing development starts collapsing DURING THE LAUNCH, and the developer say it was the steel provider or the cement supplier... you get the point.

@@JackieChinJR Not on same basis. Houses are the developer's responsibility. He has safety officers doing rounds plus audit done off and on premises. So if a beam collapses, it's his responsibility because his men didn't check it properly. Even if ultimately the beam has factory defects. For tyres, you don't blame the car marquee for blowing up. You immediately go after the tyre maker.
