One point to note on the CVT that Proton is using, the jerking during initial drive is due to the clutch based design which are similar to a manual gearbox. Other CVT are mostly a torque converter types such as those in the Inspira. So these type do not exhibit jerkiness during initial drive. CVT are fun to enjoy as it is.

How much better is iriz to the persona? I am really2 curious though. Reason being is that I’ve lenjan my father’s new persona standard around karak genting last month, n I was so happy and excited by its performance around the corners despite it being a sedan not a hatchback

Because it was a hatchback, naturally and from engineering standpoint, it will suffer less body roll because the lack of the extra length behind.

Hi What's your take on iriz R3 with punch cvt gearbox, has proton recalibrate the cvt gearbox again. How I wish it was a normal torque converter gearbox, wld have been a perfect Iriz R3 edition.

Just want to share my experience here. I own Saga FLX 1.3 and Iriz 1.6 Premium. Iriz CVT are far better than Saga FLX. More responsive and less lag.

IMHO, the jerkiness/delay during the setting off not due to CVT, but the clutch system, CVT with torque converter are way smoother

When it comes to the Iriz with a CVT, what I found out is you should not treat it like a traditional automatic. That's probably when the car always felt pretty erratic when launching from a standstill or navigating at low speeds. What you need to do instead is to lightly modulate the throttle at these situations. It's definitely less responsive than a traditional auto, but at least you'll get a smoother drive. Not a fan of doing that, but it's something to get used to.

Tested once, 170-180 all the way from skve saujana putra to ayer hitam. My honda city cant take those corner at that speed. Iriz really has a good handling and stability, but other than that, everything else is just so-so for me

Beautiful review. Good car for its price. Nice ride and handling. I frequent karak highway. Taking corners at high speed with this car can really put a smile on your face. But, the only downside is CVT transmission. I tried to fall in love with the smoothness of CVT. but failed miserably. Maybe it just me. But i dont like the idea of having CVT as transmission. Be it Proton, Honda, Toyota etc. Iriz will be my first and last car with CVT.

I just wish.. Proton will drop their s4ph by the year 2021.. It is a damn old engine.. Geely has a 1.0T engine.. 136hp mind u.. Please proton.. I am planning to finally buy me a new Proton.. And I dun wanna it be the x50.. Face-lift the iriz and put that 1.0 engine...fast!
