Very enjoyable watch as usual. The roll looks good. I use one of those cheap canvas haversack messenger bags

No need to change the size of the handles. You could carrying it like a bag when moving 👍

Think those style of log carriers should also be able to make a chair seat. Like a bushcraft tripod/a frame chair. As for the firelighting, been watching the first season of Alone Australia, and someone almost used a whole ferro rod attempting to get a fire going after a bit of rain, just doing the same thing over and over, admit defeat and quit on day 2.

That's bad, the British version of Alone was a bit of a joke.

@@RobEvansWoodsman Australia maybe worse. 4 people out by day 3. Someone thinking eating millipedes was a good idea. Only maybe two of the contestants seem more competent than UK contestants.

Maybe a telescopic bellows/blow fire tube would help get that going.... I find one invaluable in damp birch forests where I am

I have one, the match was damp and the twigs just didn't want to catch first time not enough heat generated from the crap match

Nice idea on the log carrier, yeah probably a slightly shorter handle would keep it above the knee for easier transport. Grommets or D rings on the corners would mean you could add an adjustable shoulder strap and carry it like a satchel. I bought a dirt cheap fold up magazine dump pouch from one of those Chinese sites (about £3.00 if I remember rightly), it’s got Molle fittings on the back so you can attach it to a belt. I use that as a tinder collection pouch, I often have it rolled up with a fire kit in it. Matches definitely have a shelf life, worth keeping an eye on them to be sure they work when you need them. Or you could lacquer them to make them last longer, Halfords spray car body lacquer is the quickest. Yorkshire tea is only true Yorkshire tea if it’s made with Yorkshire water. I’m in South Yorkshire, I can assure you the water definitely brings out the flavour. Well it brings out something, lol.

i usually use cordage for that but i think the idea is not bad. maybe a thin leather lining on the inside would make it double up as a safty layer when drawcutting for example then the handle could be hung around your neck like a apron

10-15 years ago i bought a very larger joblot of matches (100+ boxes) in the last 5 years or so using them has become 'difficult' at times, But i'm determined to use them ... lol

I’m sure that’s the “Pathfinder” wedge. Let me know when your using one, so I can be in the next county over. It’s going to come keen if it flies off and hits someone.
