If you ever want to pretend your friends are socialist leaning and critical of capitalism, in America that is, say you heard someone from another country say "the tipping system is stupid" then bask in their defense of social and legal pressure forcing individuals to share some of their money with other people who aren't well paid because the law doesn't demand the employers pay a liveable wage and there's no income safety net to allow all the underpaid staff to quit until employers were forced to pay fairly.

How fragile of an ego do you have to have to be threatened by a young boy singing a Disney song? That young boy has more courage and strength in his heart than that hateful man. I kinda love that he was so scared of that young boy that he had to go out and form a hate group, while all that young kid did was sing. It kinda shows how much stronger love is. Not all white people are bad just like how regardless of ethnicity, people can be either good or bad. But “Proud Boys” (yes, proud of being Lee & Noah Flynn from The Kissing Booth trilogy of the turn of the 2020s), on the other hand, like John Wayne, is a very negative representation of white men who would never appreciate enough of works with proper representation of minorities like the Disney Renaissance, Roots (the 1977/2016 miniseries), PBS miniseries, Enslaved (well, what do you know? I shone light to another miniseries about how far we’ve come as a society to finally give black people the dignity they deserve which is to be treated as people instead of slaves and caricatures that eat watermelon and talk offensively like in The Birth of a Nation 1915 and Yes Sir, Mr. Bones which is well-liked because people don’t take it’s harmful impact on black culture seriously enough), 12 Years a Slave, Amistad, Black Panther, Back to the Outback, etc.

have you ever seen this new documentary, Feels Good Man? its about the artist who created pepe the frog, and how his old drawing was coopted by the alt-right... it was a very interesting perspective on how culture can be rebranded and taken and how response needs to be quick before it can fester and become another part of its identity. i seriously dont think this could ever happen to something so full of meaning, so charged with vulnerability and history as Proud of Your Boy. especially when used in an "ironic" way by these people, i think its just another of their cruel attempts at twisting the knife -they probably know the history behind it, and they know that theyd never find any emotional resonance with it -so they use it to mock those who do. despite this, such a thing, i hope, i want so so bad, can never be truly tainted by hate. not when its essentially a song about love, about a mother and son, about an experience so intimate and tender and fragile that it just goes against anything these fuckboys do. and also. just another chance at listening to you cover this beautiful song, its a priviledge. thank you, for making me smile after a long tiring day 🎶

9:27 oh HELL yes!!!! Sing it!!! You seriously made me cry listening to this. I can hear what this song means to you in your voice. God DAMN that was good! I don't know your personal story very well or your relationship with your parents but, at the very least, you should be DAMN proud of YOURSELF! You are using your amazing unique gifts to educate, inspire and shine a little more light in the world! If that's not something to be proud of I don't know what is! Never stop being you!

I’m not happy to hear this because the first time I heard this song was a cover by Clay Aiken on a Disney Mania CD. I was listening to the CD in the car, probably on my way to the suburbs to meet up with family, and I was probably between the ages of 8 and 12. I’m a Trans Guy, didn’t know until I was 19. But I was so touched and moved by this song that first time because I lost my Mom when I was six, and I know that she would be proud of me now and even at the time. But I was a young kid with undiagnosed ADHD who was having loads of trouble in school and I was a shy kid, and anyway. I felt it on such a deep level that I was moved to tears, almost a sob or two. I was sad that it made me cry, because at that time, I hated crying (still do), not because I’m ashamed, but because I associate crying with being sad - especially when I was so young. Anyway. Thank you for your beautiful cover. I will never forget how I felt when I first heard this song in the car. I think that I’ve made her even PROUDER of her boy, and may she Rest In Peace and Power. Same to anyone else who has been taken too early for any reason. 🏳️🌈

Before I watched this video I thought about how Aladdin pretended to be a prince for jasmine kind of like how people for whatever reason they have pretend to be straight. He tried to dress differently, act a different way, all for Jasmines approval. Jasmine herself could be representing society, since he’s trying to seak her approval and changing for her. After a while Jasmine sees through his lies and works it out that Aladdin is not a prince she gets angry but eventually forgives him possibly just like how society is now much more accepting of LGBTQ. I don’t know that’s just how I like to think of it :)

Art is powerful, that man thinks he is something better then a child raised by a single mom, yet the same child changed his life, a song he sang haunts his existence ever since, and I get that hate feels like it’s on the raise, that the future is scary, that it seems the world is slipping away, but we are still here they might be loud and violent, foolish and gullible, but we are powerful enough to admit our fear, calm enough to sand a massage without crime, and we know that problem needs to be processed not shoved under the rug, but I think you are wrong in giving this man the power to “take away” this song, that you need to “reclaim” it, yes we need to sing it more to show the entire world, this song’s true colors, but we most also remember that democracy and diplomacy is about learning how to live with these people not make them the villain we all so fear, but also at the same time not give them the ability to control our lives, In recent years the internet and the world has forgotten how the values of freedom works, we have let powerful players with different opinions make us forget that not only one thing can be true so please make this world better don’t let others make it all bad Politicians are stupid. For all they are smart, they are dumb, but there comes a time we all need to accept that they can’t be perfect, either Donald Trump nor Joe Biden are capable in being perfect, they are humans. I don’t envy you Americans the power to change the entire world is in your hands, and it really is nerve wracking, for what it’s worth it seems both candidates are bad for their own reasons,

For God's sake, you do NOT have to make a place at the table for people that want you dehumanized or dead because "they're people too uwu" they are literally banking on anyone not on the right to "take the moral high ground" and just sit of try to publicly shame them into not being shitty, which the won't do because they straight up want you to be upset by them
@anoxthefighter79334 жыл бұрын
@Gwendolyn Stata Look I get it, I really do, and sometimes it doesn’t makes sense, especially the nastier people get, I also get how it sounds like a “free spirited” thing, it isn’t. In life we often forget about how our experience isn’t the definitive truth or answer, we often forget that even very opposing views can both have unique and different “truth”, we often forget that the more we antagonize the slightest differences and bigger differences, the more we push others to be more extreme, the more we all lose, There is something to be said about that not all wars are won by fighting, something else to keep in mind is that this is not about moral at the end you really have to remember we all share this planet, we do have the ability to work together, if we perpetuate the fighting based only on fear then we will get endless fighting and sorrow. All that being said, it seems to me that my intentions were lost, I can not recommend to others, what I myself wouldn’t do... siting around any table with aforementioned person is something very unwise to say the least especially for people like us, and recognizing their ability to harm anyone is paramount, right now there are forces in work making everything seems so dire so extreme, worse, everyone so hellbent that their way is the right way, if you wish to live life with said person as a villain, a force that can’t be ever challenged, changed, ..., I find it sad that you would give such immense power, to such confused people, but ultimately it’s your life to discover what might never learn, what I can’t begin to understand, Power can be and is demonstrably not just force, hate, fighting, if people actually applied the same principles they do on white supremacy, proud boys against organ harvesting and forced labor camps, on buying locally made products or products made in countries that are supporting their own, I personally fear a day in which our values will be forced to confirm by a raising power namely communist China... Lastly I would like to thank you for reading and express sorrow if you find yourself in a world where you can’t even afford thinking about peaceful, or other ways, I would like to say I am very very (not even on the same continent) far and things are bound to translate poorly, what ever you choose, what ever you do I wish you good health and peace.

Dude... "Proud of your boy" is a music about inner feelings. o-o If I recall, Aladdin sings it when he is ALONE, so, its not even about libertation, showing off to people or stuff... Its about him. o-o Its like when you are alone and you begin to think of what you want, you are not going out telling people that, you keep this to yourself.

I'm pretty politically disconnected too. I only knew of it from highlights from the presidential debate. Trump was asked if he was willing to denounce white supremacy groups like them and he said something like: The Proud Boys can stand back and stand by but what about violence from the left?! ...whatever stand back and stand by is supposed to mean.
@kyoken86914 жыл бұрын
Watch Tim Pool's interview of the leader of the proud boys Enrique Tarrio. I'm not telling you if the organization is good or bad, but collect all the facts first before deciding. The fact that the Proud Boys were name dropped during a presidential debate should mean every single news media should be doing research on the organization to let the people know what they truly are, but aside from the constant "fascist, hate group" moniker no one else seems to be doing actual interviews or research on the group right now.

I think it's interesting that you mention the LGBT related flooding of The Proud Boys tag as a step forward. I initially read it as being in poor taste. I mostly saw white cis gay men in the tag, and because The Proud Boys are a white nationalist group (and white gay men can be complicit in white supremacy) I found the overtaking of the hashtag to be an act of performatively reclaiming something that white men cannot reclaim. I would be interested in hearing more of your thoughts on the matter
@estebanbetancur92874 жыл бұрын
Lol, that's what they get for trying to help, you made them complicit to white supremacy lol unbelievable
@casperreynolds44734 жыл бұрын
@@estebanbetancur9287 ????? I didn't say that the people participating in the tag were complicit in anything. There are gay men who are self-titled white supremacists, that was all I meant by the "complicit in white supremacy" sentence. I'm not sure what you're upset about. I realize that the people participating in the tag were doing so with good intentions, I just noticed that most of the people participating were white men writing # Proudboys on photographs of themselves. It seemed in poor taste for white people to flood a white supremacist hashtag trying to reclaim a phrase of white supremacy. It isn't really theirs to reclaim as white people. It was not my intention to paint those people as white supremacists, I think you misread my comment. I just thought it was in bad taste. I'm sorry if my words were hurtful in any way.
@jupiterprice80994 жыл бұрын
I felt similarly, I'm sure the people in that hashtag had their hearts in the right place, but there was something uncomfortable about seeing so many white men feeling comfortable enough to tag a white nationalist group in a Twitter selfie. I think reclaiming the song is universally good, as it isn't directly tied to white nationalism the way The Proud Boys name is, but yeah they lost me with trying to reclaim the title of "Proud Boys", especially seeing how many people in the news are trying to downplay the threat of white supremacy. I would have felt a bit more favourably to the twitter thing if it was more diverse, but I almost exclusively saw white men doing it.
