Please understand that when most people say this, it isn’t because we’re trying to be patriotic or simply just nice to you, it’s because we may never know the sacrifice you gave for us and we shed tears every night when we say our prayers and thanking God for you...the American Soldier #USA🇺🇸 #GodBlessAmerica #thankyouforyourservice

It's men and women like you that make me proud to be American. You guys are what True heros look like. Along with PD, Emt and Firefighters. My dream tattoo is of the American Flag with a toy soldier standing guard. 4 colors of freedom and Heros. Red-Firefighters, White- EMTS, Blue- Police and Green-Military. Thank you Sir for your service. And Thank you also goes to your family as well, for they also sacrificed.

I just laid my grandfather to rest last month. I spent most of my life knowing practically nothing of his service to our country. We laid him to rest with military honors at the Massachusetts National Cemetary and at that point in my life, 30 years old, I've never felt that much of a sense of pride and sadness at the exact same moment. Thank you to all who have, those who are currently, and those who will serve this amazing country.

Where to start. I remember attending dads funeral. The navy did a truly BEAUTIFUL send off. I understand health wise why grandpa couldn’t go. Grandpa never mentioned much of his Air Force history. But looking back if he hadn’t joined dad wouldn’t have been born & neither would I. It’s because of his military history he met grandma. But the one thing I dreaded was hearing TAPS. I knew it was inevitable. I still remember seeing the soldier out in the distance..,the brief sermon then he started. If you’ve never been to a military funeral I promise you TAPS is impossible to get through.

When I deployed to Iraq I realized the family left behind may actually have it harder. We thank servicemembers as we should, but let me take the opportunity to thank you for YOUR service. No soldier I've ever known was doing it on their own. The support of loved ones is the beating heart of our volunteer military and in my humble opinion a major source of our strength. You sacrifice in a thousand ways that never get enough recognition. Be proud. You earned it.

I just wanted to say thank you for your service. My brother in law is in Arlington. He passed away almost 12 years ago over seas for freedom. He was in his early 20s. December is not a good month for the family because my husbands brother was born on Christmas day and died on the 7th of December and 2 almost 3 years ago my dad passed away December 30th. My husband brother was an airborne ranger. His name is Henry Linck. There is a video on here in memory of him. My husband also was in the military. But he can no longer be in since that was his only sibling and baby brother. He still has trouble listing to these songs. And my uncle was a sniper in the military. Well known.

Great review of the song! I've heard this one a hundred times and each time I still get misty eyed thinking of the sacrifices made so that I can have the freedoms that I do in this country. My grandfather was drafted into WWI but was discharged from the Army after basic training due to the war ending. He turned around and enlisted in the Navy, working as a machinist doing repair work. All 4 of his sons served in the Army and Air Force. His oldest son saw some of the heaviest fighting of WWII in Europe. His oldest grandson was in the Army in a recon unit in Vietnam. I served briefly but proudly in the Air Force. I was brought up to show nothing but respect for those that have served our country and am trying to instill that same respect in my children. Thank you and all others for your service. There are still many of us that truly do appreciate it!

@@protonneutron9046 It's not desecrating as the US Flag should not be altered. The Thin Line flags are always designed as inspirations of the United States Flag and they're not US Flags altered into thin line flags. Everywhere I've seen thin blue line flags flown (if at all because I've barely seen them flown) they're always following the regulations and are flying lower than Old Glory. Examples: is the Malaysian flag criminal? Its essentially the US Flag with a sun in the blue field. Or how about Patches worn in the military where the US Flag is Multicam, AOR or Subdued, or Black and White IR material. Should we ban any and all US Flags on uniforms that are not Red, White and Blue? Sorry but this isn't a hill you should be dying on. In all cases I've seen the Thin Blue Line flown and used it is respectful and flown by the utmost of Patriots. Those who lay down their lives in the preservation of society over chaos for our Country. Chill out man. We're on the same side, love of country and duty.

I saw her from a distance, as she walked up to the wall In her hand she held some flowers, as her tears began to fall She took out pen and paper as to trace her mem'ries She looked up to heaven, and the words she said were these She said, "Lord my boy was special, and he meant so much to me And Oh, I'd love to see him just one more time you see All I have are the mem'ries and the moments to recall So Lord could you tell him he's more than a name on the wall"
