Prove You Wrong | Lyrics
Welcome to the breakdown
Tired of playing games now
Make it no mistake
I will prove you wrong
I'm sick of being patient
Underestimated
This will be the day
That I prove you wrong
Walkin' in the building
Everybody still askin' how I'm feeling
Have I felt like I finally caught a rhythm
Now I know what kind of answer I should give them
But I say I'm just trying to know where the next step is
Looking for the "go" where the "ready, set" is
Tryna find a beat I can get in step with
I'm just tryna breathe, let me get a breath in
Yes I know, we can't all follow where I plan to go
All I want is faith in the path I chose
All I want is faith in the path I chose
So welcome to the breakdown
Tired of playing games now
Make it no mistake
I will prove you wrong
I'm sick of being patient
Underestimated
This will be the day
That I prove you wrong
I was on a high for a minute
Feeling just right, just fine for a minute
And then my vibe could turn on its side in a minute
The second I asked you if you had my back
And in your hesitation, betrayed, you did not
I asked you for confidence you haven't got
Heartbreakin', you basically end and you find
There was no way to take it but anger inspired
So there you go
All I want is faith in the path I chose
All I'm getting back is an "I don't know"
Standing in the flames as the fire grows
So welcome to the breakdown
Tired of playing games now
Make it no mistake
I will prove you wrong
I'm sick of being patient
Underestimated
This will be the day
That I prove you...
I've been to the bottom now
And I may go back again
Even if I could turn back time
There are things out of our hands
I've been to the bottom now
And I may go back again
Even if I could turn back time
There are things out of our hands
I've been to the bottom now
And I may go back again
Even if I could turn back time
There are things out of our hands
I've been to the bottom now
And I may go back again
Even if I could turn back time
There are things out of our hands
So welcome to the breakdown
Tired of playing games now
Make it no mistake
I will prove you wrong
I'm sick of being patient
Underestimated
This will be the day
That I prove you wrong
Welcome to the breakdown
Make it no mistake
I will prove you wrong
Welcome to the breakdown
This will be the day
That I prove you wrong

Mike, you’re probably never going to see this, but I just wanted to thank you. Your music has honestly saved me. These past few years, I’ve been weighted down by so much shit.. I’ve lost people, and people have walked out. Listening to Post Traumatic was the only way I could cope with any of it. Thank you. Thank you for expressing your feelings through your music... you give those of us who don’t know how to speak, a voice..💓

Mike Shinoda is his own person now, own songs, own sound. Chester will always be so proud for him that he continued and is making amazing music, but we all need to let it go. Stop comparing him to Chester or saying that it would sound better with him in it. I get it, we are still mourning, but we need to build Mike up, not keep him at a constant stage of no levity. So comment something happy or something about HIS music, support him. Anyway, the song is amazing just as expected
@Antonio88870

Totally true. We all adore Linkin Park songs and Chester's work and voice but we also adore Mike's work and voice as well and people should enjoy his solo work in the way it is. That's the best way to support Mike, showing to him that he's not a shadow of someone else (even because he was the writer of most of Linkin Park songs).

True as hell, man... we need to get this pain off our backs. Kenji (aka mike's second name) is doing hard work. Chester is proud of him, yes. But why making him remind of his best friend? He needs to get the pain off too. like he said now, "i'm tired of playing games". and those games are the painfull memories. so let Mike be himself now, people who read that guy's comment and mine. Valeu Juliano. (sim, eu sou brasileiro. então fOdAsE)

Your music is helping me get through this shit, honestly. My life...these past two years have been the fucking hardest years, I’ve lost so much, seen so much, had to go through so much, been hurt, fell in love, lost family, lost friends. I’ve had days where I’ve felt like I was spiralling out of control and have come so close to killing myself, I’ve had that noose around my neck, I don’t know if I felt peace or fear. When Chester died it felt like another part of my life died with it, Linkin Park got me through my childhood and my teenage life where things were just...a nightmare. It was a nightmare I lived through every day and has affected me growing up in ways that I’m still grasping and dealing with. You guys were always there through your music and the message you put out. When the one guy that helped you in your childhood fight mental illness ends up succumbing to that same fate...it’s like a hole that can never be filled. It makes you feel like if someone that strong succumbed to it what chance do I have of fighting these demons, of trying to win? Some days are like a madhouse of chaos inside of my mind and that scares me so much. The music you put out, the raw trauma in it, there’s something about it that brings me back to the beginning, to my childhood and I can’t describe the feeling in any words. It’s just...this album has helped me in ways you couldn’t imagine. I listen to these songs and a part of me feels a little stronger. As someone who’s lost someone close to him too all I can say is I know it never gets truly easier, the heart doesn’t work like that. The pain never dies but how we shape our life around it does and how we learn to live with it is what’s important. I don’t know what will happen years from now or how we deal with our seperate traumas, how we handle the pain. I know that for the time being, in the now, I’m alright, kind of and that’s enough for me to take it one day at a time. Thank you Mike, thank you for making honest music and for all the times you and Chester were there helping me through the hard times, as you are now without him. Thank you for being here.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Keep your head up. And I'm so with you on this. We have to keep moving forward... always, even when what kept us going is no longer there. Life is hard. It is alot easier though when there is light....and yes Mike's songs are that light for me and many others. Chester's death was a hard one to swallow....very hard. Mike saved alot of us. I'm in tears as I write this because it's so damn real and true. I'm so grateful for moments like this that have so much meaning. Stay positive but and strong minded my friend. Never loose sight of that light. Always BELIEVE🤗

People looked at him as Chester's supporter, just there to amplify Chester. It doesn't matter that he was there before Chester, that he wrote most of the songs, produced them, did a ton of vocals+ instrumentation that Chester couldn't... people always thought of him as "the other guy". Just look at this comment section, half the comments are about Chester and how this song would've sounded better with his vocals/ how they can imagine him doing it... People don't see him for his own person, and many doubted he could make good music now, saying Chester was the one who made the music great. I mean no disrespect to his memory, of course, but Mike is definitely underrated

Crazy thinking of all these years that have passed. I remember the first time I saw the trailer/commercial for "Hybrid Theory" with snippets of the first single "One Step Closer". Fast forward to seeing ads for LP's first tour. Then, the release of "Frat Party at The Pancake Festival". Never laughed so hard while watching some of the moments you guys decided to share with all of us. Seeing the footage of the two live performances in TX from Dallas and Houston. Good times...although I immediately go to the tragic incident that we all shared and still trying to cope with it. Mike, these tracks you've produced, engineered, created whatever label you want to call it has helped thousands and just wanted to say thank you. From LP to FM to current. This Street Soldier, Fort Minor Militia will keep marching feeling every beat you throw out. One step at a time.

Still coming back to listen to these songs after tragedies/traumas in my life. I feel you can understand. They help me stay alive. You've been an inspiration, seeing how you've handled it. Your music was beautiful prior to and still is, after LP. I'm sorry so many comment only about Chester to you + you are apart from him, a true blessing. Keep going Mike, i need you💙

People don't give Mike enough credit for how difficult it must have been to actually record, produce and release this album. Not only is it a vocal/musical chronicling of his journey through the pain of Chester's loss and the road to recovery, but it's also about facing his greatest fear; who is he without Chester and LP? He spent his entire life trying to become the musical and artistic expression of his soul and through Chester and LP, he found and defined himself. When Chester passed, Mike didn't just lose his friend and artistic collaborator, he lost an emotional outlet, someone who could sing and express what he couldn't, much like what the fans lost. If I can indulge people for just a moment and explain how I have felt this way, I hope I can provide some context. I became a Police officer to help people and give them Justice. I was proud and felt like I was making a positive difference in the lives of so many people. I met my wife and transferred to another Police force in a different country where the legal system is an absolute joke and actually holding criminals accountable is virtually impossible. This left me feeling lost and depressed. I came to define myself by the good I did in this world and all the people I helped. This has been taken away from me and I just feel like everything I am at my very core has been stripped away. I can't help but feel that Mike was going through the same emotions when he made these songs and perhaps this is why I feel his personal music on such a deep emotional level. This album speaks for all of us that have felt this way. Love to you all, and stay safe in these dangerous times.

Great Music Mike!! I think its hard to move on after one experiences a period of trials and tribulations- speaking from experience to me Linkin Park's undertone was hope. Your new music reminds me of some of the original artwork for Link in the Legend of Zelda- looking out at the horizon as the land unfolds off to the unknown, adventures await a hero who looks into the rising sun. Through darkness and hardships comes the most radiant light, for it is the darkness and pain that helps us appreciate the warm embrace of the Son. I hope you read some of these comments Mike, that they grant support and fuel even in the hardest of times; there's a lot of people in the world who need a glimpse of hope- a glimmer of light in this ever darkening world. My hope and prayer for you Mike is that in the midst of your journey, despite these struggles--a divine inspiration burns in you like a fire - something that exceeds your wildest expectations and like a kid you can reinvent yourself as you share your musical talent/creativity light with the world.

@Obi-Wan Kenobi Oh my god this comment! I was thinking the EXACT same thing! In last october my best friends abandoned me and it left me davastated. Since then I am slowly recovering and I am again beginning to see more and more light in the world. Its very hard and a painful process but it is worth it. I learned so much about others and more importantly about myself. And the Zelda-Artwork you mentioned. I just bought something just like that, because it was a symbol for me. Link is standing at the top of a hill with his sword drawn and he is looking at the light in the horizon. He sees so many dangers and trials which lie in his way to happines but he faces them with courage and determination. You can find the poster I speak about here: www.redbubble.com/de/people/tachyonlight/works/25928487-die-legende-von-zelda-atem-der-wildnis-link?rbs=e33e4830-3d2a-4c90-b7cb-209a010c46db&ref=work_carousel_work_portfolio&ref_id=25928487 It's nice to see there are other people out there who experience the same things, both good and bad. And it is also great to see that Mike is continuing to produce music. Linkin park lives on and I am sure, that Chester is proud in heaven. May he rest in peace. I can never thank him or the other members of Linkin park enough for all the help they provided me and continue to provide me through their awesome music. For me too, Linkin Parks core message was always hope. And as long as someone has even a tiny bit of hope left, he will continue to keep going and overcome all the darkness he encounters in this world. So thank you Linkin park and Mike Shinoda for always being a beacon of hope!

It baffles me that Post Traumatic wasn't one of 2018s hottest albums and it was largely ignored. Because I can't stop listening to it. Beautiful tunes, haunting to some degree, slick production, and lyrics are , if I dare say it, a cut above LP fare. Just like LPs A Thousand Suns was a stunningly beautiful rendition of the apocalypse, this is a deceptively light but substantial document of trauma and redemption. Stunning work. Wish it was appreciated more. But to me, one of my favourite albums ever

You will never prove me wrong, you will always prove me right. That Mike Shinoda is the greatest musical artist of our time. Always able to create meaningful and creative lyrics and music with different rythems beats and styles. Always able to stick to fundamentals that served as his foundation but never afraid to pioneer in new styles. And most importantly a man who can connect with his fans as himself and not a fake persona. I will support and follow Shinoda any where, I have faith in his choices.
