I have read a couple of reviews that says they don't illuminate well on lower gas settings. is this true ? Otherwise they look excellent and I am considering buying one.

The flame picture is lower and the minimum setting. This unfortunately is the nature of the heater. The flame must travel through the coal bed to appear. On a low heat setting it will not travel as far. Having a low heat setting with a high flame is not possible. The coals will still glow so the effect is still there, it is simply less.

Setting 1 is a gentle glow, setting 2 is low flame, setting 3 is high flame. On the gentle glow, it feels warm but not overly hot, low flame gives a bit more heat and high flame gives a lot of heat but burns a lot more gas from a 12-15kg butane cylinder as a result. Personally on winter nights I find that setting 1 is adequate enough and on chilly spring / summer nights the gentle glow gives just a little pleasant warmth as needed.

@@anthonyperkins7556 l have just purchased one and personally, on the lowest setting there is nothing visually that would indicate the fire is on, and to the touch the iron casting is just warm.Setting 2 shows a slight flame and modest glow. The high setting is however, quite spectacular and the iron casting gets very hot.
