The Province of Benguet is known for two of its dances, mainly, the Tallak and Kayabang.
According to Ike Picpican, a sociologist, Tallak is a Kankana-ey dance from the municipality of Bakun, one of the northern towns of Benguet. The musical instruments are made out of wood of different sizes to simulate the beat of the gongs. Its purpose is to have some entertainment without performing the required ritual. This is due to the sacredness of bringing out the gongs just for entertainment. It is accompanied by fine tuned wood instruments that produce a rhythm when played in harmony.
Kayabang, on the other hand, is named after the unique carrying baskets found only in Benguet. The dance depicts maidens coming home from the fields with their harvest in these baskets and beating on unique bamboo buzzers to drive away evil spirits.
