I'm a classical musician of almost ten years and I can tell you if they sang 100% live at every single event they would most likely suffer real permanent damage, and not be able to sing anymore. Vocal chords are muscles, and very sensitive ones. Just like if you were lifting weights you can't life for several hours every single day. Your muscles need rest or you can suffer serious injuries

I have a theory why they don't sing live in ICSM encores and performances: So yall know how the choreography contains bending down and super high notes right? I think they used Pre-record to preserve their vocal cords, listen to the difference between them singing while sitting down or standing up and while dancing ICSM, but take notes of this: Falsettos are the hardest thing to execute while dancing You're supposed to stand up straight to execute a highnote (note that NaHyo has to bend down while trying to execute ICSM's highnote) See how Nayeon easily sings when she isn't dancing? You can say that's normal, they're trained for this yes but were they trained to sing notes they can't reach and not break their vocal cords? No, they weren't, because you're supposed to execute a highnote with a proper technique, they're all forced to sing a key they can't reach, that's an equivalent to teaching a fish how to climb. My point is, there's absolutely nothing wrong with lipsyncing, but you have to every singer or even performers HAVE their limits, I say JYP needs to have a better vocal coach and train Twice's vocals more. The group shows so much potential imo, Chaeyoung can be a lead vocal, Jeongyeon can be a main vocal in another group, hope JYP gives these girls more vocal training, I love their singing and live vocals, he should also stop giving them super high songs.

They have, occasionally lipsynced, sure. But even in their debut showcase, they sang live. Even when the vocals were on for Like Ooh Ahh you could hear Jihyo and Sana’s voices under it (probably the others, but those two were most notable). Backing vocals are more common in music shows just because of the nature of music shows vs lives and concerts.

Twice can sing i think the reason why their voices in some encores are shaky is because they are nervous and if they gain more confidence they will definitely shine.... and maybe the reason why their nervous is probably because of the haters saying they can't sing esp momo in encores momo is the most nervous/anxious looking more than any other members. And plus jyp wouldn't have put the members who are so called 'bad singers' in the group because jyp is hella strict in terms of dancing singing and so on. Ps. I think they are more comfortable singing in their vlives and concerts more than in encores.
