I would have also removed the can labels and marked them with a sharpie, Frozen veg, I would have got my own fresh veg prepared it and then frozen it. Just what I do. But you are right provisioning is a brain teaser. Great video, looking forward to your journey.

Thanks for the suggestions! We will do both on the next go around. Also considering a dehydrator.

Were we your 1K sub?? Did I actually see 999 subs when we looked you up for the first time? Saw your boat this AM taking our dink to the spoil Island in Ft.Pierce! All the best!!!! Just got back from Bimini. Have fun! Those Dots Pretzels are worth their weight in gold!

Yes you are! Thanks for subscribing! We left Ft Pierce around 10:00 and we’re headed for Charleston to see our kids before moving on to Virginia for a big refit. Seriously, those pretzels are the BEST! Down to our last bag. Good thing we’ll have access to more soon. Hope you enjoyed the Bahamas, we sure did!

Whew! Good thing you have a big boat! BTW, we found plenty of shops with fresh veggies that didn’t break the bank. Just need to know when the mail ship is coming!

Georgetown had the BEST grocery stores! We caught mail boat day and the stock was fresh and plentiful! Staniel and Black Point were SOOOO expensive!

@@SailingRoam we found little stores on out islands, like Cat Island, that had an amazing variety at great prices. Always amazed me!

Good to know! We’re hoping to get to the out Islands next winter/spring. This season we only had 6-7 weeks and spent it all in the Exumas.

A great real world vlog. Id be interested in a follow up vid on what you under/over estimated, what you had to thow out due to spoiling etc. Lots of channels show buying $1000 of supplies and it would be food to see how the estimating went. 👍

I avoid round containers and jars since they are a waste of space. I wish cans were square or rectangular instead of round. I only eat fresh pasta and I found a really compact pasta maker that breaks down into multiple smaller parts. I am a major coca cola classic drinker so installed a soda fountain on my boat, the equipment doesn't take up much space and its all mounted in the bilge. The carbonizer pump and c02 cylinder is the bulk of the equipment and then just a box of syrup. It saves so much space compared to cans or bottles.

I’m with you, I really hate the round jars, but love being able to vacuum seal them. I (Geri) love the soda fountain idea, and it turns out Shawn has already had that on his radar. It just hasn’t made it up the priority list yet. Thanks for watching and also for your thoughts and suggestions.

The smaller island Bahamas grocery stores are mostly converted homes, similar in size to a small 7-11. The first year we went, l spent a lot of time looking for plain Greek yogurt in many stores. When I found it, it was $10 for a container. There is nothing wrong with bringing all you may need. It is rude to quantity buy on an island where they have to wait for a mailboat for deliveries. They know Americans well. Small containers of ice cream were about double US prices. Such an awesome place, you will love it. We had a $30 hamburger in the Bahamas. That was a few years ago.

That’s exactly the description we were given! I think the only thing we under-bought was dairy (sour cream, yogurt, maybe butter). We have an ice cream maker on board, so assuming we can find whole milk and cream after we run out, we can have a nice treat now and then. It makes the BEST ice cream, so worth the space it requires. Thanks for your comment and thanks for watching!

Oh if only I’d been organized enough to capture all of it. Lucky for me, I have a great memory for visualization. When I need something, I can visually recall where it is. It’s not perfect, and I forgot about the cabbages I stuck in a floor compartment in the galley. It didn’t smell very nice in there when I opened the hatch to look for something 😂😂😂 We have about 5 months coming up on the hard and I’m “planning” to use an app on my phone to record for the next time.

Every island has to import many things. It is not exclusive to the Bahamas.

Your sugar will need a hammer to use. Should have put in jars or plastic containers.

You’re not wrong! Our active stores are in mason jars. The back stock is vacuum sealed in bags. So far it’s working well. When our mason jar is out, we break the seal on a bag and just loosen it by mashing the bag. Working like a charm!

No shame in eating what you eat. The problem lies in one side or the other b****ing about and trying to force their ways. You eat your plant based stuff. It's obvious you don't have a problem with meat eaters. That's the beauty of choice. I would caution that the processes that go into making plant based substitutions may not be all that safe. But then again neither is most highly processed things.
@SailingRoam

I could not agree more. I’m definitely not evangelical about my non-meat ways. You’re absolutely correct and the processing of plant-based meats. I use them for occasional meat cravings or if I’m cooking a main dish for the meat eaters in my circle. I’m pescatarian and will choose fish over almost anything else. Thanks for your comment and thanks for watching!

Is it too hard to put the peanut butter back where you found it? Sure someone else will do it. That type of inconsiderate, all about me, behavior is inexcusable

If it makes you feel better, I did put it back after I cut the video clip. Sometimes the walk back isn’t as good for continuity of the shot.
