Every year, Scott Galloway, Professor of Marketing at the NYU Stern School of Business, makes tech and business and cultural predictions - and also tries to hold himself accountable. In this talk, Scott takes a look back at how his predictions from 2021 panned out, examines current trends like the metaverse and geopolitics, and shares his vision of the greatest opportunities coming up in the near future.
This talk was recorded at Summit At Sea in May 2023.

Damn that was good! Watched it in one go. The ending was so real. You can feel his own struggle with never really being in the moment. Enjoying his experiences. I also know exactly how he feels. I'm successful in my own right. Not on his level but I can imagine the experience being the same. My mind never really appreciates what I'm experiencing and it's always working, thinking, scheming, planning, strategizing. If it's not doing that, it's criticizing myself for mistakes made. It's maddening sometimes. The only thing that seems to enable this state of being totally present isn't meditation, unfortunately. It's THC. Weed gummies or just straight up smoking a joint. Personally, I don't it a lot. But when I do, I almost feel normal. This presentation definitely felt as time well spend.

“By the time you hit 38 you have trouble adapting to the way you look after that” 😂😂😂 omg hit the nail on the head!!! About his final “are you here?” Are you in the now? I say that to my husband all the time. Humans are time travelers. Literally. No one is actually ever in the present. There is literally no present, the moment you say “now”, it’s already gone. And we spend 99% of our days either in the past or planning the future we might not ever have. It’s actually a challenge to catch yourself in mental time travel and bring yourself into your present reality, but you gotta do it. It’s the only way to truly enjoy life. You know who time travels less? Kids. Kids are mostly in the moment. We need to relearn how to be like a kid again. Not only to enjoy the moment, but to think more positively and to have more wonder for the world and to have more trust in each other. Before it’s too late.

@@freethink9510 He is against the metaverse and space exploration? The value of institutions do go up with scarcity whether or not he is a professor. It's not that he wants it to be the case, he think it just is the case. He is actually in favor of expanding class sizes. I'm not sure what you are trying to say about ayahuasca, but he's obviously turning around to psychedelics. He absolutely would be more correct if he said ' I think/hope/postulate', but I don't think that is the purpose of his talk. He is taking a risk and making bold claims, so you may see him as impudent or brazen, but he is also audacious and daring, which means he will command attention and push his ideas forward. He risks being more wrong, but more predictive. He is also not light on data that backs these claims up as he literally crammed as many slides as he could in the time that he had. So I'm not entirely sure what you are expecting from him. Maybe not appropriate for a university lecture hall, but perfect for a summit like this.

Great video and very realistic/honest points. There is nothing wrong with being rich but when the rules (tax code, etc) allow for capital accumulation to happen at the astronomical levels we see for a few decades, Democracy and Capitalism start to implode. Corruption, fascism, outrageous conspiratorial ideations are at unsustainable levels. Currently, there are waiting lines to buy increasingly large yachts and private jets. High luxury watches are now auctioned for 5-10 times the manufacturers' prices and sell quickly.
