Sorry to keep pounding on you. So the fry cart at McDonald's had that disappeared like an early 2000s. The fishing that disappeared probably in the seventies I believe. so those two stories are correct but different time periods and no nobody use fries to fish! Now we did have some fish in the river all the way up until about 2005. Even to the point where at one time we had one ugly beater Catfish get stuck in one of the intake pumps on the east facing or south east facing Mister screen for Fantasmic. The show had to be postponed and divers had to address a scenario. Guess they were able to push it out but nevertheless something was jammed in it. Now there are no more fish though

Also Big Thunder could not run that capacity until they remodeled it which happened about 6 years ago. The attraction was modified and is now capable of monitoring the locations more on a digital scale of where each vehicle is. So the efficiency is enhance now with the remodel

My seven year old and I are going through each land with you, and we love it! Tom Sawyer’s Island is such a nice break when the kids are getting fatigued with lines and crowds. Frontierland is my husband’s favorite land. He’s French, and he said the “wild American frontier” was very enthralling to him as a child. Disney did a great job at capturing a child’s imagination of what the American frontier was like.

When they are running Fantasmic you can’t ride the Mark Twain, but in the winter when there is no Fantasmic during the week, you can ride the Twain at night. It’s one of my favorite things to do there. In fact, once I was able to watch the fireworks from the top deck of the boat. They loaded us up and actually stopped on the back loop of the rivers and we all got a very special viewing.

Some other things we love in Frontier Land - Farley the Fiddler. He is part of the street entertainment. Hey, street entertainment...that would be a good episode because there are so many different entertainers that enhance the DL experience. Farley will do impromptu hoe downs with guests as they come through Frontier Land. He also has his own badges that you can only get from him. Also, in the store is Walt's barb wire collection on the wall. Barb wire collecting is a thing and the pieces have to be over 18" to be of value. His collection is quite valuable. It is on the store wall in the corner.

Yes, there was a french fry cart in Frontierland in the 1990s, and in the early days you could fish from a dock on Tom Sawyer Island. But you could never have fished from where the fry cart was since those two things are separated by at least 40 years.

Alrighty so I’m going to debunk a lot of these facts as I use to be a river cast member. First the river hierarchy: Columbia Mark Twain Tom Sawyer Island Rafts Canoes 2nd It’s still called Tom Sawyer’s Island and Pirates Lair is a Place on the island. 3rd the Mark Twain is 105 ft long and only 105 tons, not 150 tons. 4th the Columbia only holds 250 ppl not 300 5th Tom Sawyer Island Rafts hold 60 ppl per raft and the small one does take guests if the other two are out of operation, there is no maintenance raft they all get used.

@11:50, the locomotives that are on Big Thunder and not recycled from Natures Wonderland. If you would like there is now a N.W.RR locomotive and cars on display that was donated and at Walt's Barn in Griffith Park. Once you compare them you will see that they are different.

You forgot to mention Doritos were invented in Frontier Land! Yup. Doritos were originally Disneyland trash. In the early days of Disneyland, a restaurant named Casa de Fritos invented Doritos by repurposing stale tortillas they bought from a local vendor. The chips proved to be so popular they were eventually rolled out nationally by Frito-Lay in 1966.

Frontier Land and New Orleans Square are the two areas I know least about. Mostly cause the rides were too scary and my mom was afraid of getting on the boats. When I go now as an adult, I definitely want to check out these areas myself.

Fun fact about the Mark Twain Riverboat. If you are lucky enough to be allowed to pilot the boat the captain of the boat for that day will give you a signed and dated pilot's certificate. You will also sign a spot in the log book. At the end of the year those log books find a spot in the Disneyland library.

The top peak of Big Thunder is 104 feet. The tallest structure in Disneyland is the Matterhorn at 147 feet tall, and the tallest in the resort is Mission Breakout at 187 feet. Big Thunder also isn't the most efficient ride, that title goes to Pirates of the Caribbean, which is about 1.5 times as efficient! Other than those two minor things, amazing video! I learned quite a few new things!

I remember back in the day going onto the pirate ship and the restaurant was called Captain Hook's Galley and having a tuna fish sandwich. It must have been somewhere between 1978 to 1982 when the restaurant closed.

The River Belle Terrace restaurant is on the border between Frontierland and Adventureland. So if you go through one of its doors and come out the other, you'll be in the opposite land. River Belle's dining area is also one of the best places to view Fantasmic.

I do not know if you covered this, but there is a path off to the left of the castle that goes by a gazebo and dance floor where they used to have "Date Night at Disneyland". It is still in use, or was when I last checked several years ago, and they have swing dance events there. A friend of mine used to go swing dancing there quite often and tried her hardest to get me to go dancing, but I cannot dance worth a lick, so I said I would just watch. It is a great path that I never see many people on, so I am trying to find it in one of your videos. I believe it winds up in Frontierland but I do not remember where. It is just up past the Main Street roundabout and on the left just barely beside the castle, just before you get to it. Is this path in any of your other videos? Is the path even still there now? We are talking around the very early 2000s when my friend danced there.

Right outside Bryce Canyon National Park, on the way in, is Red Canyon. On the side of the road is a sign with an arrow pointing at the nearby hill and it reads "Thunder Mountain."

Free tip: The best place to ride Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is near the back, preferably in the last section. Whenever the train climbs a hill, the back had to catch up to the front, so it's not as cool in the front as it is in the back. Also, keep your hands in the air when you ride it. It's a lot of fun!

Another fun fact about big thunder mountain is while you’re waiting in line there is an iron donkey that was used in Walt Disney’s Hot Lead and Cold Feet. It was the iron donkey that Eli rode in the race for his and Wild Billy’s inheritance.

Frontierland!!! Aside from ToonTown, this is another favorite area of mine. I always enjoyed the shows, walking around and looking at all the stuff. Tom Sawyer island is such a magical place all on it's own. There is no place like it on this earth. I constantly have the urge to get on the ferry and go to that island. I've been there over 100 times.

I know I'm late to the party; But, I just discovered your channel. Maybe here are a few tidbits from an old "Disneylander". My first trips were in 1956 and 1957. Walt could be seen strolling through the park on occasion. At the entrance to Frontierland there was an Indian Village. They would dance and do sand paintings. I was fascinated by their work and tried to duplicate them with DIRT when I returned home. Needless to say, it was a hot mess! real and I became mothers we would pull our kids out of school in April, (both of her kid's birthdays), and again in September, (both of my kid's birthdays), to go to the Magic Kingdom. Double treat and off season, so the park was never too crowded. We would save Wise Owl and/or Green Stamps and cash the books in for entrance and the beloved "ticket books". I look forward to watching your videos of the other "lands" and comparing to my own memories.

Whohoo!! Someone FINALLY noticed! For those not seeing what Jason noticed, the "Frontier Land" sign in the thumbnail is from Disneyland but the photo of Thunder Mountain is from Disney World. When I was making the thumbnail for Chris I used a photo of the ride in Disney World thinking it would be a fun (and fairly obvious) "Easter egg" for anyone who had been to DW. I was sure someone would catch it within hours of Chris posting the video but it took 3 weeks. Good eye Jason!

Thumbnail Dave in addition is fact about repainting the natures wonderland trains and using them for thunder mountain is false. If you look at any pictures of the 2 alongside each other ot is obvious they are different and also it is not possible to simply convert a dinky train into a safe rollercoaster train.

The coin under the main mast is to pay Charon to cross the River Styx in case the crew dies at sea. The U.S. Navy still does this as a Naval Tradition. I still do it for luck on my Hobie 16, seems to work, I have not died yet.

Back in the 80s, I loved to goof around in the "Dead Man's Grotto", especially the small back cave where you could hide and scare kids that tried to get in there. Great fun. Loved the pontoon bridge as well. I'm a bit confused though with the section at 6:35. The employee was saying the island was closed. Don't you work with Disney on these video? Why wouldn't they let you over to show off the other areas? For some weird reason, I do not even remember that fantastically beautiful petrified tree stump in the area. I'm glad Disney's wife donated it to the park. It would look wonderful in any location. Being a rock hound myself, I'd love to own it. Absolutely loved the shooting arcade. I always did a round of that when visiting the location. Of all the rides in the park, "Big Thunder" was always my favorite, followed by "Haunted Mansion" and "Space Mountain". Everything about BT is great. I didn't know it had five trains though. That's impressive. I'm guessing that the two lift hills really help with the loading/unloading of riders.

Hold the phone! The chain of command on the river can depend on the conditions. If a safety issue arises then that goes completely out the door and it is decided amongst the river lead and each individual lead for all rivercraft What is to be priority. Canoes give hand gestures at the Crossing where the rafts do their switch. Now a little secret, canoes was capable of passing any vessel on the river up until summer of 96. That's when we have the Keel boat accident which changed the entire format and operating procedure of the river. Not only do two OSHA standards but even a hierarchy came in the play and that's the Coast Guard. That Implemented a lot of protocol and procedures to maintain safety and a balance with the vessels on the water. Removing the Keel boats that to change the structure of chain of command. It actually used to be the big boats then the keelboat then rafts depending if they were crossing but if they're not moving canoes gets priority over them as long as they signal in advance when making the turn in front of river stage Fantasmic

No mention of Discovery Bay at the Loud Bang sign? That was to be the E Ticket fireworks ride in Tony Baxter's Discovery Bay that was never built. They put in Galaxies Edge instead. And Jason Chandler's bag on the stagecoach on Big Thunder Trail relates to the Society of Explorers and Adventurers. He provided the drilling machine to Barnabas T. Bullion (Tony Baxter painting in WDW BTM queue) to bore the gold out of Thunder Mountain and was set to be the main character of Discovery Bay. I really enjoy Disney adding the SEA to all the parks though there are only two references in DL. Check out the pic's on the wall in Bengal BBQ of the SEA members and notes that bring Henry Jones Jr. into the SEA and Disney Universe! He went looking for the Fountain of Youth with another SEA member. Oh and the Halloween Tree!
