The odd thing is, this season when EpicGames is actually doing a "Resistance: The Seven against the Imagined Order" plot in-game, with in-game battles of Resistance troops against I.O. troopers, and I.O. airships crashings, and tanks and battlebusses, and lore quests about the Origin recruiting Islanders to fight for the Seven... NewScapePro's new writing team is using hardly _any_ of that! The Seven's war effort in the NSP storyline is going _worse_ and less effective than the actual in-game plot, despite the NSP storyline having all these powerful characters around who could support the Seven! I do understand why NSP don't want to let Midas or Dr Strange or other powerful "older" established characters take too much of a spotlight and central role against the I.O., because we can't say in advance which characters will play an important role in Epic's season ending event (except the Seven and probably Agent Jones). Even the current Ch3S2 Battle Pass characters are not guaranteed to be central to the event (see the Ch2S8 The End event where Epic seemed to forget that Chimpanski and Torin had had direct ties to the fight against the Cube Queen, but the event was all about the Foundation, Jones, and the Scientist vs Dr Slone and vs the Cube Queen). And despite the fact that Dr Strange was in the Ch3S2 Cinematic trailer at the start of the season, he hasn't featured in any of the lore quests at all, as if Epic tries to forget they put an extremely powerful Sorcerer Supreme on the side of the Resistance. But still... in the NSP episodes sofar, the characters have done nothing useful except sneak into Command Cavern and then out again and then get caught. In Epic's storyline of the past few weeks, the Resistance has liberated multiple towns from I.O. control, destroyed/stolen I.O. tanks, and downed three I.O. airships and has pushed the I.O.'s control of the Island back to the area around the western shore of Loot Lake. But in the NSP storyline, we've seen nothing of that.

I'm starting to think Lady Death did real lasting damage to Midas the genius mastermind when she erased his corrupted shadow side back in Ch2S4, instead of trying to disentangle the Enforcer's corruption from it to reunite the "dark" and the "light" halves of Midas' soul. She told Midas that now his Light would be even _stronger_ because it wasn't countered by the darkness in his soul anymore. But Enforcer had told Shadow-Midas _"You are the part of Midas that gets things done"._ It feels like ever since Ch2S5, Midas is unable to make decisions, or come up with strategic plans! The former self-proclaimed "Defender of the Island" seemed paralysed by indecision in Ch2S7-S8. And the new writing team seems intend to erase the whole "Midas, the new God of the Light" metaplot as if it never happened. Midas had a new goal: to revive his (un)dead wife. He tried to talk to Orelia to find out what had happened, but then he just... stopped. Or let's be frank, then the writing team made him stop. Instead of Midas asking Jules to transfer the Light he had transfered to her back to him, so that he could use the power to travel to Oro's domain (because technically it is now his), or find out more about Oro's backstory... he did nothing. Worse, in the middle of the Cube Queen invasion of Ch2S8, the writing team declared that Midas would decide to...retire? Eh. I mean, I can understand if Midas is traumatized with PTSD. Midas died (twice), returned in a robot body, spent Ch2D5 and Ch2S6 either offscreen or mind-controlled (as Midas Rex), first by Agent Jones then by Dr Slone, before he once again was turned to gold. Since then he has regained a flesh-and-blood body, but seems to have lost any interest in thing except protecting his daughter. But does he want to spent the rest of their lives just hiding away with Jules, all alone? Midas needs some therapy. If the writers had wanted to write Midas and Jules out, then they should and could have given them a happy end: Let Jules and Fade go to Fade's Earth, and let Midas either travel with them, or let him take up the mantle of the God of Light and travel other spheres to look for the other Elemental Gods. Instead Fade got killed off. Rio was brought back into the plot, but then that story arc was abandoned as well. Why? I mean, it would be extremely cruel to Midas, because let's be honest, Rio is traumatized, too, and neither she nor Midas are still the same people as the young woman and the young innocent man they once were. But at least the writers could have Midas release Rio from her undead torment, even if her soul then moves on (even though that might turn Midas suicidal).

Midas and Jules made it clear to the Seven last season that they're on board with helping stop I.O. as a means to an end. Once I.O. is dealt with, the Seven promised to use their resources to aid them in their own quest: finding Orelia. During the Cube Queen invasion and especially since the Island flipped, tracking Orelia has been extremely hard for Midas - which is why he is having Skye and Meowscles spy on Slone in the first place now. Aside from the surface level troop movement updates, he thinks I.O's resources might be useful to locating her. These scenes are few and far between the past 2 seasons, so it might be hard to follow the through line, but I promise it's there, just in the background. The focus cannot be on Midas anymore, logistically, as much as I might like that. By the end of the series (if it comes to that) though, rest assured Midas/Jules/Rio etc. will get an ending that fits their characters, I'll make sure of that. - Ryan
