Great ideas. Looking forward to trying these out. Thank you so much.

I know I am having this problem but I can’t sit down at all because the pain when I get up is very bad and very irritated I also having pain and very stiff from my hips I know that most of my problems is due to some falling down on the floor that started few years ago my body started shifting specially my right glutes inward and now I have one hip forward, up and tight. I am a very difficult spot right now

These videos are amazing. Curious: 1. For PHT, is it common for discomfort to be present when actively stretching the hamstrings, such as a toe touch stretch? 2. Is it also common for the figure 4 stretch to hurt/feel tight/tense when dealing with PHT? 3. Do you find that many people with this condition feel sort of vulnerable in the high hamstring area when first accelerating to sprint?

Hi David! Yes, compression of the tendon against the ischial tuberosity is often provocative. So hamstring stretches and figure 4 stretches will tend to be painful. I do find that people with PHT tend to feel vulnerable when loading it in general. I actually just posted a video which goes into some of these a little more in detail that might be helpful: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pn_Yq4pvnNiInsUsi=b0Z_SdZ_f1VAq_Xv

Thanks Michael for this other information on this very troublesome tendinopathy. I am an amateur runner and I run about 40/50 kilometres a week. I suffer for this injury since one year and a half. I've tried also a PRP injection one month ago with no great results. I do regularly strength exercises... I haven't stopped running at the moment, but I think I'll do it for a few weeks in the near future. I am also trying magnetotherapy and it seems it gives some relief. I believe hamstring tendinopathy is very subjective. What do you think about PRP and magnetotherapy?
@MichaelBraccio2 жыл бұрын
Hello! PRP has some potential but I think it is too early to see if it is actually effective or not. I am also not aware of any studies for magnetotherapy and am not sure of the mechanism of how it would be helpful for tendinopathy. But if it's providing some relief, there's probably little downside.

hello i passed the sitting stage. ive had this for 8 months and am a 22 year old athletic male. i rested it for about 2 months. i got back into soccer and it really limits my top speed. i just want to be able to sprint again with no pain. i can still play just fine its just an annoying thing that limits my full capability. what do you reccomend i do because none of the exerecises online seem to have helped. i get depressed when pople notice i got slower and this injury seems permanent.

Hi there! I would look at some progressions for distal hamstring return to sport. There are some great programs for soccer specifically. But this is a great idea, I’ll add this to my list of future videos.
@richardwing87562 жыл бұрын
How many reps would you suggest for each exercise? Also, can these progressions be done 2-3 times per day and can they be done each day?
@MichaelBraccio2 жыл бұрын
There’s not a specific rep range to recommend because it depends. If it’s a sensitive tendon to compression, we might not be able to do as much whereas others can tolerate more. I would start off with what is comfortable and gradually build from there.

Michael, would aggressive stretching of my hamstrings cause this condition? I did this stretching because my hamstrings were tight and causing back pain. This stretching fixed that, but then I got this condition...which has not responded to rest/strengthening/exercise.
@MichaelBraccio6 ай бұрын
Potentially. Compressive loading can be a factor in the development of PHT, but usually not the only factor. Also I guess it depends on how aggressive you were stretching. Hope all is well now though

Im a powerlifter and i’ve been dealing with this kind of pain for about 6 months now, but i’m confused as to if this is even the injury i’m dealing with. when i hinge at the hip i can feel it lengthen my hamstring and i feel a slight discomfort, but when i extend back in an upright position relaxing the contraction it causes the pain. - essentially what i’m asking is, could it still be a tendinopathy if it happens during the relaxing portion and not the contraction itself?
@MichaelBraccio Жыл бұрын
The hamstring can aid in hip extension, so it could be irritated at the end of the contraction.
