I will never regret buying a rebel 500, but I do regret buying it brand new. It's an incredibly bullet proof bike, the perfect city bike, the perfect daily, the perfect beginner. Aside for the stock seat, it pretty much does not need any upgrades, if you want it to tour, you can upgrade to a 1000cc, but even then, it's not too bad as if you don't mind the long ride and matching the speed limit. It's really cool when you start to custom it, and it's the perfect canvas for hitting the cafe racer or classic cruiser style of riding. For a moderate rider, this bike is practically a fun scooter, if it had a bit more torque, it'd basically be a big grom, it's really fun to ride. I genuinely can't imagine wanting to change it for a CBR500, because even if I understand some people wanting that sports bike stylization, the CBR500 takes a lot more work to look what the Rebel 500 practically already is. Plus, you obviously don't have to deal with removing faring and such, making it essentially much easier for even beginner mechanics and hobbiests to get into motorcycles. I got an asahi windshield from amazon japan and a custom seat from london, essentially transforming the bike into a whole new neo-retro bosozoku look, both which I don't think I can get at all, from its sports bike counterpart.
@J_bui8 ай бұрын
If you bought it used what price range would you aim for?
@yeetoban7 ай бұрын
@@J_bui I would have aimed for anything around 5k. Brand new, and most recent, it could go up to 8-9k but a 2017 can go for 5k or less, which is practically the same. Paying double for a brand new doesn't come with any special perks or differences to a 2017 model, obviously there's a difference in maintenance depending on how well kept it was, but you can technically also just buy new parts for the bike and it'd still be cheaper.
@J_bui7 ай бұрын

I went for the Rebel 1100. bigger engine, the 3 modes to ride in, and most importantly, cruise control. I freaking love cruise control. I don't even consider the Rebels to be cruisers. It's just not quite. It's more a shorter naked bike, in my opinion. All that said, I love the hell out of my Rebel 1100. I see no downside to owning a rebel. To be fair, the first thing I did was swap the seat and exhaust. I went with the Shorty GP from Radiant and I couldn't be happier.

Right now dealerships won't pay more than $4000 for this chunk of useless metal and still, no one frigging buys them, second hand or new. It sounds like a tractor, handles like it weighs 200kg, doesn't go much faster than a scooter and it's only "upside" is its smooth gearing --- like any other 400-500cc bike with slipper clutch not named KTM. It has no traction control and only front ABS, no tft screen nor smartphone connectivity, no cruise control despite being a cruiser. It's one of the worst purchases I've ever made.

What is very funny is that Taiwan has already approved the FREEWAY for products above 600cc. The government has not yet implemented the law and is still pursuing the theory of banning it. It can only be said that Taiwan is deeply poisoned by the backward and corrupt ideas of Greater China. As for the prices of heavy machinery and cars in Taiwan, they are more expensive than in KOREA JAPAN US EU. What’s funny is that antique cars are open but they don’t have FREEWAY rights of way, they have to pay the same tax as ordinary cars, and they can only use LHD. Taiwan sucks. No one in Asia in the world is worse or more corrupt than Taiwan, with the exception of China and Singapore.
