Not sure why people are complaining about price - it's a "core" model. I'll wait for the SE but nice to hear it going through its paces!

I never understand why people worry about pricing. just work out your budget, and buy the best instrument regardless of who manufactures it, within your budget. PRS do make quality instruments, plenty of choices.

Agreed. The SE range that are being produced now, are very fine instruments indeed. A lot of people play them now for good reason. They play and sound wonderful.

Sounds fantastic. Looks great. I've never been much of a PRS fan, but the black NF 53 with narrow field pickups (not the MK sig) sounds so good... A bit pricey for me, but maybe if this is a success we'll get an SE model next year.

Cant spend almost $3G on another tele. Acquired several (brand new) over the years starting in '79 and they dont add up to $3000 in cost. Maybe an SE version will help solve the cost part of it.

I called this as soon as they released the Mayer strat. I knew it was only a matter of time. Disappointing to me, as one of the best things about PRS was that they weren't just copying guitars that already existed. I also think the price is too much. PRS seem to really be upping their prices a good chunk each year.

They made me glad I lacked discipline and got a Silver Sky in Fall of 2020 (from Sweetwater, natch!), before the frequent triple-digit MSRP increases. I suspect that model will be three grand within 2 - 3 years. Ridiculous.

These aren’t Tele’s and to me the body is similar, other than that how do they compare to a tele? 3k might seem high to some players, but it’s nowhere as high as Fender reissues or relics that can run 3 to 6k and most people wind up changing the stock pups and do there own modifications. To me, to each there own, but I say Bravo PRS! Always a step ahead and thinking outside of the box! I can’t wait to get one! 😉🎸

It's just a shape. PRS can get in on it too. They did well with the Silver Sky, after all. But for me, the main appeal with T style guitars is the classic pickup configuration and ashtray bridge, which they have chosen not to do here.

Agreed. Yes the only shape to worry about here, is people getting "Bent out of shape" shall we say lol. PRS make quality guitars, thats all that matters. If you prefer a different guitar or manufacturer, be happy and buy those, is how imlook at it.

I like the core model but the price point was a huge miss to me. More expensive than a silver sky that has artist royalties? You can get a top of the line Fender Ultra Tele for $650 less and it includes a hard shell case 😬

You could also buy a custom shop Fender Telecaster for twice the price of this PRS. I Cant really see the point you are making on price tbh. Everyone should just buy what they want to own, keep within their budget and be happy.

John Mayer models sure have treated them well. I bet we see a lot of modern country players use these all over the place by next summer. Not defending them, probably won’t buy one either… But these are going to be work horses for serious players.

I'm not sure I understand the need for a Myles Kennedy signature guitar. He is listed as a "singer" first on many web sites. But hey, good for him and working with PRS to get what he needed. Can't wait for the Neil Diamond sig acoustic.

Unlike the Silver Sky, the aesthetics of these are a swing and a miss for me. I respect the desire (need?) to deviate substantially from the, ahem, T-style original recipe, but these just look like a ‘rough draft’ of whatever they should have ended up being.

Another copy of an iconic instrument. Companies have been ripping Fender and Gibson off for years. Asking a company to do something original these days is like asking Hollywood to quit making Star Wars remakes.

Fender and Gibson have been ripping customers off for years too. Selling 1957 this 1959 that etc. They spend a great deal of time and effort selling to the guitarist, that you are buying an oh so near vintage instrument, that was clearly made just yesterday. Even worse selling a beat up rusted, brand new guitar as a relic instrument, so that you blindly believe " i ordered it yesterday and today my 1962 strat is arriving tomorrow. Lol. No its not its brand new, made in 2023. period. At least PRS dont pretend to make you believe that you are buying a vintage oh so near instrument. They are giving you a here a quality brand new instrument that is in the ball park of a single coil tone. Fender and Gibsons quality has improved because of the quality that has been put out by other builders, they have had to up their game. Fender and Gibson who rely on their history to make sales, are trapped from inovating because of that. Do you not think epiphone is a cheap way to sell you a Gibson rip off? same for Squier? whether they own those companies or not. An epiphone les paul standard, is not a Gibson les paul standard! is it? Do you see Squire or epiphones as copy guitars? because they are!

For less money you can get a top of the line Fender Telecaster. This is a misstep even if you get past the headstock and I really don't like the black line birds on the maple it just looks messy to me.

Heard Myles Kennedy introduce this and didnt care for the tone at all. Tone is actually lacking and if ya want a Tele sound get a Tele. Myles definitely deserves a USA signature model though, people dont know he's about as good as Tremonti.

Eh, I'm tired of signature models. Some are only color differences. As per usual, a few years back, they say they aren't doing that, and here they are, PRS strats and teles.

@scottcald Yeah Ive never played a Signature model I liked. Despite people being a diehard fan of an artist, the fact is that a signature model was made for that particular artist, so if youre physically built different it may not suit you personally. And as Nuno Bettencourt said, "I was playing EVH's personal gear and I still did not sound like him, I sounded like me and I hated that and was so disappointed. " So buying this will not make someone sound like Myles.
