Correction: 24.594” is shorter than a les Paul at 24.75” so that should make it less tension and even easier to play than Gibsons. It’ll be a bit until I can get one of these...but mark my words....I WILL. Great playing and demos as usual.
@kevinblythe21926 жыл бұрын
While promoted as being 24.75", Gibsons and Epis are basically 24.5" also. Many players wrap the strings over the stop tailpiece on these so I think it reduces tension on the strings for bending even more. However, having said all that, I don't regret buying my 594.. beautifully made, great sounds and just sustains forever ... Oh and Tom .. great playing man.
@kingsleydgtr6 жыл бұрын
FWIW, vintage and vintage-spec Gibsons with a nominal 24.75-in. scale length typically measure 24.594 (aka 19/32) if you use the method PRS uses, which is to measure from the point at which the strings exit the nut to the top of the 12th fret and multiply that length by 2. The scale length of this PRS model is based on the scale length Paul Smith measured on an early 1960s SG that he particularly admired.

@@paisteplayer1040 Well....the Les Paul is still a great guitar and it has that thicker tone that Clapton back in the day, Jimmy Page and many others got. The McCarty 594 does not replace the LP but I would think if you can only afford one, the PRS maybe preferred
@paisteplayer10402 жыл бұрын
@@revelationsoundstudio I dont believe gibson have thicker tone.. I own and played may prs and gibsons back to back, same amp same setting, all my PRS have plenty of bottom end and thick tone, none of them sound thin. now the 594 has low output pickups and so many vids compare them to burst buckers which are higher output.
@revelationsoundstudio2 жыл бұрын
@@paisteplayer1040 It depends on which LP you have....50's, 60's reissue etc. Mine is a 1989 Les Paul and it does have a thicker tone
@paisteplayer10402 жыл бұрын
@@revelationsoundstudio You might be right, but I have compared to modern standards burst buckers, traditionals with classic 57's studio with 498t, and into my archon 100 head, the difference is moot. There is more difference in covered pickups than uncovered, being the uncovered are more open brighter sounding. I have an sc594 that I got with a Jb ain the bridge uncovered and it kills, beefy, bright cutting.

I own Les Paul's plus a variety of other guitars, including a Paul Reed Smith Custom 24, which is a beautiful guitar not only in looks but tone. Very high quality indeed but also a high price tag. I do love it, but if there was only one negative it would be the large heel on the neck. I do tend to pick up my LP's more often but do love the PRS as well. Apples and oranges.

Owning a Gibson LP Custom, this is next no doubt probably the SC, I play the 594's so I'm very familiar with them, I feel my Gibson is "beefier" all around, I can tell you this for sure, the 17 degree head-stock on the LP is the game changer if I were to make the purchase again and pick one.

The 594 is meant to be more reminiscent of a 'vintage' Les Paul so its not surprising its tone is going to remind you of classic Humbucker tones.

Nice. But, i kinda wish there was like a minute or two comparing this to, say, a Les Paul....
@drewbarries2347 жыл бұрын
CentaurusRelax314 I have one of each and let me assure you that this does not sound like a Les Paul. I love my Les Paul and would never consider my 594 a replacement for it, the 594 is truly in a class of its own. What's the main difference you may be wondering, well what I can tell you is that the strings are a bit closer together on my LP and I think that has a big influence on the way a guitar sounds in simply considering the string to string interaction. Also the pickups on the 594 are way more capable of a wider frequency response and so there's like this cleaner wider more open sound which for a lot of classic rock stuff I frankly don't prefer. That being said it is still a question of what I am used to hearing vs. what I like and so perhaps if the 594 had been around during the 70s then more of the great music that I like would have been probably recorded on one because it's just a phenomenal playing and sounding guitar. If I had to choose just one guitar between my LP and the 594, it'd be the 594.

Thank you, Drew. Some good insight there, which sorta validates my own thinking. Appreciated.

Drew Barries, I think the big difference from this to a Gibson are the pickups. They sound different. Gibson a little more rocky and PRS a little more blusy/jazzy. I love to here the clean tones out of a PRS...
