the first sentence sums up what's wrong with the vintage guitar myth . all the gear Hendrix, Clapton, and the who, zeppelin etc all played new instruments, brand new drum kits new guitars new amps, and all sounded amazing, PRS you nailed the tone with the 594. its the first PRS i am fully sold on and must own .
@kevinborchers35224 жыл бұрын
well i think the point was that things were built really well during a handful of early years and then the quality went to shit. So vintage gear wasnt good because it was old but rather because it was built in one of those specific years. But i do agree that when it comes to new guitars PRS cant be beat.

I was a Gibson player for most of my 58 years on this planet. My first quality guitar was a 1960 LP bought in 1973 as a birthday present from my parents. I still have that guitar. It was bought in a pawnshop that was owned by my father's buddy in Torrance, CA.. I chose the 60 over a 59 because the neck felt better in my little hands. I have bought a few other LP's over the years. Speed up to 2014. I played my first PRS it was a SC245. After 3 hours went by for which it seemed like 10 minutes needless to say I pulled out my Amex and it was mine. Since that time I purchased a Tremonti fix bridge and a custom 24 with a Floyd. I have played many golden age Gibson's and they are wonderful but they have grown to a mythical status that is way more hype then fact. Since that day in 2014 I rarely pull out any of my LP's from their cases. I could write a small book on the positive experience I have travelled with PRS, but I have rambled to long as it is. So I will end with this. I read a interview with Ted Mcarty years ago and he said (paraphrasing) PRS is what Gibson would have grown to if the company would have stayed on course. I can't say enough positive things to say what is on my mind but PRS is the BEST guitar maker period!!!

I think your dementia is starting. PRS is the antithesis of what Gibson was in the 50s, in every way conceivable, except for their ownership. PRS make the finest guitars on earth. I remember the first time I tried one, a white custom with bird inlays at a shop in Los Angeles and it just blew me away. It was the most beautiful guitar I'd ever seen, so I was drawn to it. Then feeling how well it played, how well it balanced, and how great it sounded, was just a jaw dropping experience. At the time, 1987, I'd been playing guitar for a couple years, advanced very quickly, and already had my share of shred sticks and Gibsons. But I wanted something more. This guitar had everything. It had better tone and build quality than a Gibson, a Jackson, a Hamer, any number of guitars. It had the best trem system I'd ever encountered. It felt natural, stayed in tune, and complimented the guitar rather than subtract from it. And the pickups were incredible. I loved the versatility of the switching system, all the tones you could get from the guitar. I finally got a PRS last year. It was a long time coming but no other guitar is so worth it. The quality is unbeatable. I tell other players not to waste their time with other brands. There is nothing that even compares to PRS.

I love everything about this company and am blessed to own a handful of their core and private stock gems, though an SE could deliver an exceptional instrument if that is your budget. For me, the end game is PRS and now I can just focus on my playing and the music. What really zings me is how they deliver as much guitar as they possibly can at every price point. You could buy a used SE for $500 and it would not hold you back in a music career. Or you can step up to core, wood library or even private stock and get the absolute best insturments on earth and the best they are capable of making at each level. Contrast with other companies who cut every corner they think they can get away with at each price point and it's no wonder PRS has gained with guitarists every year since their inception.

I play the guitar every day for at least 5 hours and more often up to 10 hours a day. I have been a session player for 15 years. I always had great feedback about the sound of my guitars. I stopt doing studio work to play live. I'm currently playing in the reggae scene. And still get good feedback from the sounds of my guitars. But what the people don't now is how many hours I spend tweaking my pedalboard to get these sounds and all the work I do on my guitars to make them play better and sound better. Non of my guitars are original I changed the electronics, the nut, pickups, tuners, frets, bridges and lots of other stuf. real frankenstein guitars :-). But they still don't sound great when plugged straight in to an amp ( I need my pedals and multi effects). But last week I walked in to my local guitar shop and I heard this great sounding guitar and I couldn't help my self to look where that sound came from and I saw someone playing a PRS McCarty 594. The first thing I did was looking wat pedals he was using. But he wasn't using any pedals he was plugged straight in to an amp. And I came home and looked the guitar up on KZbin and I came across a video from rob chapman. And I heard that amazing sound again. And I said to myself how wonderful it would be to buy a guitar that is so well made that you get it out of the package and you don't have to change a thing plug it straight into an amp and it plays and sounds amazing. And they look great to. Unless I win some lottery I can probably never buy one. But I think this is one of the best guitars I have ever seen. Great job PRS

It’s a funny thing how Paul mentions an artist that used one of His guitars, and it was a fantastic result. I’ve also had that experience. I’m an independent artist that owned a prs hollow body McCarty piezo. I used it on a track(it was loaned to me by a friend). I used a Roland jc-77 amp with an sm57 mic in to DP-7. When I exported the track and popped in to pro tools to mix it, my producer was blown away by the sonic qualities. He immediately asked “which guitar is this?” He said it was the best he had ever heard me use. That he can see why people love PRS guitars. Tone isn’t entirely in Your fingers. The gear makes a difference.

I love PRS guitars for playing live - they stay in tune - they’re super versatile and they are comfortable to play. They’re so perfect though, that I think they’re almost piano-like. What grabs me with the wind cries Mary tone is the slight imperfections in the tone - a little bit of fret buzz, very slight intonation issues (probably from flipping it upside down). Both instruments have their role. But I think to get the perfect imperfection tone, you need to essentially hand-build the the thing to the best spec a human hand can manage.

tokojojiji they just released what is called the SE SC245 which is practically the same thing with same pickups but hotter sounding Though I’d want a doublecut:) Or get a double cut custom 22 and move the bridge as close as possible forward and get Seymour Duncan Jb4 and that jazz neck pickup they have I forget the name of

Dear Mr. Paul: I'm speechless!

Hands down, Best body shape. But still can't beat sound quality of Fender or Lespaul's. Overall it's still my favorite. The most gorgeous looking.

@@tigerstripe3820 you're just talking about sounds you're used to hearing and equating familiarity with quality. PRS has their own unique vibe that over the years will become more and more entrenched and familiar sounding. I play a PRS McCarty made in 1999 that weighs just over 7 pounds and has a bell like resonance like no other guitar I've ever played. To me in the bridge and middle position it sounds like a really fat sounding Tele while the neck p.u is sweet and warm while retaining clarity. Quality? My baby has it in spades.

clear lows and warm highs.. yup. that's what I want. Most guitars I've played are so brittle in the high notes.

I'm really hoping for a Hollowbody 594 somewhere down the line

fluffytoaster427 I think the new Hollowbody II's have the 58/15LT's if that helps, I do agree though
@fluffytoaster4278 жыл бұрын
Definitely, but even before that happens, I'd kill for a Maryland made Baritone. That'd be pretty killer.

I'm seriously considering selling my Gibson and Fender to help pay for one of these (but probably the singlecut), I'm infatuated.

PRS just have that... thing, you just can't put it in words, it's not just a guitar, it's a way of living, you really feel part of the family when owning a PRS.

Conozco poca gente que tenga tanto amor por la Les Paul como este tipo. Dejo de ser un luthier de boutique para estar en el podio con los mas grandes. Gibson, Fender y PRS... NO SE DISCUTE MAS. Las 3 mejores marcas de toda la historia.

Paul is clearly an inspired and devoted man and oh how I wish I was in his position, however, PRS guitars are, yes, fantastic creations, and yes, they do everything you’d ever want a guitar to do… But, it has to be said, they are unfortunately like a multi-storey car park with some levels missing. If I may expand my feeble analogy: our guitarist’s car park goes from L1 to L13 and then from L15 to L20, and yes, it can hold 2000 parked cars; yes, it has the widest exits in the world; yes, it has a clever system where you only have to remember a number and a colour and you’ll never lose your car… Brilliant! But there’s still something missing - and I don’t understand why the owners of the car park, and PRS, can’t spot that missing bit.

they should do this with all of the guitars.

I own a Fender American Professional and the finish and playability on my PRS Custom SE is MUCH better even though it was a "cheaper" guitar. If the PRS came in a Satin neck, I would have the ultimate guitar.
