I have the same issue with my DGT and you're not the only other video I've seen with a person saying the same thing. I have a feeling there was a batch of nuts manufactured just a little to short and they decided to use them anyway. Other than that, a very nice guitar and I agree about the trem. It outclasses the trem on my USA stratocasters. Nice job on the video.

Good review Mike! I think the coil set up should be called a coil tap rather than a coil split. A split usually means it only gives you one coil. If it's 70% when you pull the knob they had to have tapped one of the coils to add to the other coil. Nit-picky I know, what can I say? I do like the burst finish. It would be my choice as I'm not a gold top fan. Glad you like the beast!

Great review! I had the exact same response to the Goldtop that finally came in a little over a month ago. Haven’t touched anything on it yet either.

Great review, I’ve been contemplating grabbing one of these for myself but keep going between this model and the SE Custom 24. The only thing keeping me from settling on the DGT is the possibility of the frets being too tall, I tend to play heavy handed.

If it helps, I can tell you this. I like my SE DGT more than my S2 Custom 24. That said, my SE Swamp Ash Special might have them both beat.

Thanks for the DGT SE rundown, seems like a great model. I have a Korean 2008 SE Single Cut Trem, top notch build quality and very playable but the nut is off slightly with mine too, PRS needs to nail this problem. I put the PRS SE locking tuners on mine and happy with them. Not a fan of thin, bright PRS SE pups and DGT's don't convince me either.

Nice guitar, Grumpy! Enjoyed learning more about it. I was similar to you in that I never saw myself as a "PRS guy", but while shopping for a Gibson SG a few years ago I just happened to try out an S2 McCarty 594 Thinline. I was hooked- bought it and still play that guitar every day. 😃 (Never did get that SG, lol.)

I Got the same guitar today. It's beautiful. but it wont stay in tune after playing two chords. I don't know what to do. I think the strings are getting stuck in the nut because when I tune no movement in pitch changes till a full turn. I have no idea how to fix it.

Hmm, that's surprising to me. I now have 3 SEs and the nuts on all of them were perfect out of the box. That's not to say there can't be a bad one in the bunch. I suppose the first thing I'd try is putting a little graphite in the nut slots, or nut sauce if ya got it. Also, is it 1 or two specific strings or all of them? I'll be happy to help as best I can. If you want, shoot me an email ([e-mail]) and let me know if the graphite works. If not, maybe I can help with further diagnostic ideas.

My gold top came in and I changed the setup a bit as well as polished the frets. I’ll probably put locking tuners on it as well. I have an artist DGT and frankly esthetics aside you’re not missing much.
