Mahogany (mahoni, Indonesian) and rosewood (sonokeling, Indonesian) grow a lot in Indonesia. Even some guitar manufacturers have used Makassar ebony for the fretboard. Those woods have good quality and easy to get here.

I just bought this guitar (same colour) and for a guy who has played lots of Indonesian models from other companies, I gotta say this one hits on a whole diff level. The split action sound drop is a negative for me though as it is much better on the PRS SE Paul's guitar model. But overall, this one is a killing machine for the price. If you are considering an Epiphone or something in this range, DON'T. Check this guitar out first for sure, you won't regret it. The tuning stability even when you totally wham on the bridge is exceptionally awesome. Awesome review, John.

I feel bad for anyone that didnt buy any of the SE's from 2019 on back, you could get a Custom 24 for $475-$550 in mint condition (I got the 30th Anny with a Floyd Rose for $550 in 2016). I was hung up for a while on not having the newer logo with Pauls sig but now I like that mine signifies its one of the OG made in Korea units even tho im sure the Indo's are great. Its such a predictable guitar and again I used to think that made it kind of boring (soulless) but after 7yrs It is a great reliable guitar and also the PU's are great, was going to change them out but glad i never did. When Im playing at really low volume at night the tone is insane, it weird but why I like it.

When you said it was Standard 24, I thought it was the one without the coil tap. But when you mentioned it having one, I thought, "wait, is this the Standard 24-08 or just the normal Standards? Or did the Standards come with coil taps as well?" So now I'm kinda confused 😅 I'm having my heart set on these SEs after also putting the current Epi Les Pauls or even the Gibson LP Tribute into consideration.

The S2 Standard Singlecut might tick more of your boxes. Dots instead of birds, kinda more LP'ish shape. Dealers seem to showcase flame tops, loud colours and birds - but there are more understated models that rarely get the same spotlight.
@primitiveT Жыл бұрын
@@PaulCooksStuff Some veneers are very well, valuable and beautiful recursively. if (beautiful) then value++; and that's the cycle. You see gorgeous models going for everything. But I played a Maestro by Gibson. Lowest model they make. AND this thing made me think, I don't need a expensive guitar. ever. I don't need a hooka when a joint will do me. Ya know? It's a great thing to be able to save and give it the same sound. Most pickups when distorted are a bit more clearly the same with most amps. but it's the speakers that matter. Output, size, cab, etc. I love single cuts yea. But yea, i don't know I've never played one.

The only issue is when you put higher gauge strings on then the bridge tends to move forward and it’s really annoying when you want to practice or play especially gauge strings that are 11 or 12 with lighter like 9 or 10 it stays leveled
@michaelw6277 Жыл бұрын
Well yeah but that’s just what this style of tremolo does, it’s not unique to this PRS. If your guitar has a trem and you want to change the gauge of the strings you need to adjust the spring claw in the back to get the trem back where you want it… it’s a really easy adjustment.

SE = Student Edition. I know, that's not what PRS says but it's what I always think. If I'm going to go for a PRS, it's going to be a USA made core model or private stock model. It's THAT which PRS means to me and if I want to back it way off then I won't be shopping at PRS. Just as I would not go the Rolls-Royce dealer to buy a Volkswagen or a Honda. The down market PRS lines hold no attraction for me. That's just me.
@GlennShepMusic Жыл бұрын
Of course, everyone has their preference and that's great! But, I would ask: have you actually played an SE? Essentially, with the exception of minor aesthetic differences, the only real difference is the location and that they're built using locally-sourced materials. If you haven't played one, I'd encourage you not to write them off. Just make sure to try one with the newer black nuts - I don't know what the white ones were made with, but they're AWFUL
