Thanks for some of the best samples on youtube!! Was looking at this guitar but wasn't sure whether the semi-hollow and pickup design would allow for some high-gain, crisp tone kind of songs in metal and rock solos and stuff, but I'm glad your video demonstrated it pretty well!! Thanks mate!

It's a beautiful instrument that looked great hanging in my wall. But I ended up not keeping it long since I was not taking it down to play it much. Hard to put a reason into words, it just wasn't inspiring to me personally.

Great review and demo, right to the point. PRS SE's do have some switch issues, but sound amazing once dialed in.
@davlavmusic70703 жыл бұрын
The switch issue was just a case of spraying some contract cleaner in the switch. Seems to be resolved now.

I have the green PRS and have the same issue with the switching. I think the pots are too close to the black paint on the inside and shorts it out. I think the switch is pretty close too.

That toggle switch issue with no sound is probably wood debris in the switch. Try blowing it out the switch with some compressed air.

this may be a weird question, but I'll ask anyway - the neck seems wider than a les paul, for example. Not talking about thickness here. Would you say that is feels wider or that's just my eyes playing tricks? :) great demo
@davlavmusic70703 жыл бұрын
So you're talking the width of the fretboard? I haven't played the PRS and LP back to back, but I have owned both. I think the width is about the same. My LP was a 50s model so the neck was a little thicker, but no difference in the width of the fretboard that I recall.
@Faethon8883 жыл бұрын
@@davlavmusic7070 yes, the fretboard, sorry. I remember trying out a Tremonti SE a few years back and it felt very uncomfortable in that regard. Thank you for the response!

Seems like you had quite a few issues with it straight out of the box, I’ve been eyeing this for a while and never heard anyone mention issues like you had, now I’m curious if a lot of them are coming out that way
@davlavmusic70703 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure. I have read several complaints on SE's in general that speak to the nut and tuners. It's too bad since it wouldn't be that much more expensive to use a higher quality material for the nut.

What amp/ effects were used? Sounds good
@davlavmusic70702 жыл бұрын
My main amp is a Revv D20. I run everything direct using the built in Two Notes software - no cabinet. For pedals, I have a few things that I stack. I think at the time I shot this video I was mainly using a Keeley Aria (Compressor/OD combo) pedal.

I actually ended up selling it. It was a great guitar, but I just never really bonded with it, if that makes any sense. It was interesting and I could never figure out why - it looked great, played great, sounded great, but when looking to play it never became the guitar I wanted to pick up.

@@davlavmusic7070 well I hope that won’t be the case for me as well. I’ve been playing an S2 Mira which I love but am looking for something with a bit more oomph. Hoping this will do the trick. Appreciate the reply! Thanks

@@jasonmaltz7040 It's a great guitar and I'm sure it will work well. Frankly, I have trouble connecting with Gibson-style scale length guitars. That's why I ended up getting a Godin Summit instead (you can see the recent video if you want). It's very similar to this guitar but a 25.5" scale.

Sorry to hear that. Always sucks to get something and have to send it back. Not sure what you're looking for from a spec standpoint, but if you're looking for good guitars in this price range give Godin a look.

It strikes me funny that PRS must know about the issues, yet they just keep letting them slide. I really am looking at this exact guitar, but seeing your initial problems, don't know that I want to pay $900 w/tax for this now.
@davlavmusic70703 жыл бұрын
Agreed. I would think it wouldn't add much to the cost to address these issues. I've got the nut fixed and will put on new locking tuners at the next string change. We'll see if I end up keeping the guitar for the long haul. It plays and looks great, but I can never seem to get attached to Gibson-style guitars for long (which is really what this is).

@@davlavmusic7070 I'm new to PRS. Truth be told, never heard of them till last week. Saw that Zach model and was impressed. Never held it, so impressed on the looks only. But now I know that PRS has multiple sources to make the "SE". None of which are USA based. First I heard South Korea, then Indonesia. While I want to believe any country can make quality guitars given the resources, i.e. CNC machines and imported wood and pick-ups, your problems show that quality can suffer, and does suffer. QC could quickly rectify this, but we see it's not. I may pass on the Indo guitars. Yours is not the first vid to point out QC issues. I've expressed my opinion here for other readers who happen on to your vid and read the comments. $900 for an Indo made guitar....think hard folks. Ya, the makers all do it, but if all I get is an insanely overpriced instrument, then that's just not too appealing. Thanks for the great vid !!!
