Having lived on Okinawa 1977-1980...and not having a chance to return to visit...I am so thankful to have found this video. So many changes. Thank you for this and all the other travel videos you have produced. I am going to spend many cold winter nights here in Northern Minnesnowta viewing your travels.

Awe, my mother was from Okinawa. My cousins and uncle still live there. I live in California, and I have never been to Okinawa. Although I always wanted to go. This video was nice to watch, to get a feel of the culture, the people, and the island itself, Okinawa. My family of origin.

Okinawa is another planet. And your wrapping narration is a very nice guide. People are lost in urban crowds, but in Okinawa they lose themselves in the beautiful nature. A glorious sea, and a sunset to heal. Thank you for your beautiful video.

Dynamite video! My wife and I lived there '72/late '74; our son was born at the old Camp Kue (Chatan) Army Hospital in '73. We initially lived at 684 Kiyuna, Futenma then moved into government quarters in Futenma Housing Area; I was an MP SGT with 62d MP Company at Camp Sukiran. Wish I could afford to take my wife back for a visit but we likely wouldn't recognize anything!

@@prsw100 It was a magical time in our lives back then too. We had just gotten married and Okinawa was our "honeymoon". Loved it there; my wife liked going "downtown" to Koza (Okinawa City). She's short and her feet touched the floor when we sat down-she got the biggest kick out of that!

Mina San Mensolay. I was a Representative at the International Ocean Exposition Expo 75. It seems as if only Yesterday it meant so much to me. I miss Okinawa and am amazed at the changes since I left. The Monorail in particular. I used to ride a Bus for well over an hour to Naha and the Theater at the end of Kokusai Dori to see the latest Chiba movies. I thought it was always worth it.

I really enjoyed this! The Okinawa I see here now is one I barely recognize from the one I was on back in '87: walking Koksai Dori weekends after midnight just enjoying the street food with everyone else so minded, corn-on-the-cob, barbecues, and fresh coconut drink right off the streets. Even the Gyokusendo Cave park has changed a lot. The Shuri Castle that I saw back then were but the ruins; so glad to see what a great job they did restoring it! And I haven't forgotten those Habu snake wines, although I never had the chance you had seeing all those asps in their holding tanks before they're put in the wine bottles. For that, the Aquarium, the Okinawa Museum, and the facility of going around in the monorail, etc, I am jealous; I hope to visit this year, God willing. I was wondering what changes, if ever, they had made to the Suicide Cliff area. One question, though: one spectacle back then was a cobra-mongoose fight; have they stopped it? Thanks for this GREAT video!
