Hi Does this monitoring work for workgroup networks? I have a work group that i want to monitor with a network monitoring tool like PRTG ...is that possible?

Good day, I have a home network currently supplied by DOCSIS 3 CMTS cable provider. I seem to be getting daily outages of a few minutes in duration a few times a day. I would like to use the free verion of PRTG to watch the connection. If i install on a Windows 10 mini PC would i need to have the mini pc as the 1st router and PRTG host with two lan connections (1) in from DOCSIS Modem (1) to wireless routers that serve all the devices in the house (about 20 devices). Then Eth0 would be the Cable Modem i terface and Eth1 would be the rest of my network. Thank you

Hey Gumby, You need to install PRTG and create a device which is pointing to the router. What you can do now is to create the SNMP Traffic sensor which is able to monitor the traffic on your uplink. Please select the interface within the creation process of the sensor. If you have further questions, feel free to contact support@paessler.com

Does it do inventory? Can I quickly bring up a report of all desktops with software installed, network switch port, etc?
@PRTGtutorials Жыл бұрын
Hey Eric, PRTG queries the installed software via the system information, but you cannot run a report for this. You would have to execute the query via a custom sensor in a complicated way, so you can run a report. This is not recommended and very complicated since PRTG also cannot display strings in channels. PRTG is not designed for inventory and therefore we not recommend this. For asset management, we have the partner lansweeper: www.paessler.com/partners/technological-alliances/lansweeper I hope this helps.

Who made changes in PRTG monitoring? How can we check this logs pls help me with steps.
@PRTGtutorials2 жыл бұрын
Hello Santosh, If you are looking to see who changed the settings of a specific object (device, group) or who added a specific sensor, you can have a look at the "history"-tab of this specific object/sensor. All changes are also logged at the raw web server access log, which is available in this folder by default: "C:\ProgramData\Paessler\PRTG Network Monitor\Logs\webserver". If you need further assistance, feel free to reach out to us directly at support@paessler.com.

Great Video and well explained! How did you manage to have the single green tick (sensor data) on the right side of the Rack Visio if you could explain? Cheers, Thanks! :)

Hey Ankur Marwah, This is a mapobject which you can find in the Map Editor > Status Icons > Status Only (Transparent Background). Simply drag this template from the right side on the the probe / group / device and you will see the sensor status without any further information. Many Thanks it works like charm! :) one more query - How can we make the Green check mark icon increase in its size for better visibility?
@PRTGtutorials Жыл бұрын
@@MAR2008WAH Great to hear that this is the object you were looking for! Customizing the size is not possible with the current version of the map designer via the GUI I'm afraid and customizations are not supported officially. We still have some good examples how to change the HTM and CSS files to achieve the desired map view: kb.paessler.com/en/topic/61263

Great video..thank you. I had some anxiety about taking on PRTG, but your video explained it very clearly, and I'm confident this is what we need.

We are happy to hear that. Thanks for the feedback 🤩

This can't possibly be an introductory video. PRTG is clearly super powerful, but this video is impossible to learn anything from.

Hey thanks for your feedback! If you're looking for something with a little more depth, I'd suggest digging into our 'Getting Started' videos, which cover all the basic concepts of PRTG - www.paessler.com/support/getting-started

@@PRTGtutorials Thank you. It might not exist or be possible, but what I'm looking for is a quick start guide. No time available to get in to more depth.
