I’d love to see playlists of particular trees that Peter has worked on over the years on this channel. So many times he will butcher a tree and say trust me in a few years it will come back stronger. It would be great to see the videos of trees as the years go by side by side.

If you see how that first scotch pine has grown, I’ve seen a previous video where Peter also pruned it up. I have the confidence it will fill out once again despite it looking sparse right now

@@murray821of course it will. I’m not doubting Peter in the least. But I’m saying I’d like playlists so we can see how he develops trees through the years

I really enjoy they way Mr. Chan uses pruning trees as a metaphor for life. He has no idea how cool he is. I think if I lived anywhere near his nursery, It would be a daily visit for me.

Peter what a wealth of information. Structure, character, openness, the breadth of the tree, these are the term you use when you where pruning your trees. Key point was to trim back the needles so you be able to see the character of the tree, from there you will see paths in which you need to go. What a wealth of informational for a beginner. That’s what I do as an artist when I been working on a painting. You have to step back to see the overall painting, and do an analysis as to where you need to go in order to achieve your goal. Thank you Peter, this has been a very informative vlog, like all of the rest of your videos. 🙏🙏🙏😊

From what I know and I’ve observed with my own ficus, aerial roots always begin growing when the tree is slightly root bound. I’ve never experimented with humidity domes or under watering to induce any but I’ve heard of people doing as such. Hopefully Peter can help you out at some point 👍🏻

_THANK YOU_ ... 🙏 😔 🙏 Dr. Chan, this is one of my favorite forms. A tree that is big, still wild, but controlled It was wounderful to see you working on the garden trees again. You guys are having a great growing season. They have grown so much. No one else seemed to mention it, but in the first part of the video there is a "ticking noise". Does anyone else hear it or well what is it? It is so regular it has to be "man made", but there are bird and insect noises too. I always enjoy being in the garden. 🙏 🖖 🙏 😔 🙏

Everything I've ever read says that structural pruning of this type should be done in late Summer or early Fall. June seems too early. It would be great to learn why this is wrong. Is it simply because Scots pines are so vigorous? The proper timing of pruning conifers would be a great video idea. If it is not correct to say prune candles in spring and branches in fall, why not?
