I inherited all of my mother's plants when she died last year. One is a fairly tall hibiscus. It hadn't bloomed in 20 years or so. Mom didn't have a very green thumb. I put it outside this spring/summer and it's still blooming like crazy.

Have a rather nice hibiscus from a friend who moved and it took awhile for it to adapt to bonsai soil and sulked qute alot in beginning but now it is one of my most resilient ones and reliant blooming. Your two hibiscus looking great and the shape and size of the leaves are just perfect (I am frankly not a fan myself of variegated or coloured leaves but it is personal preference) cheers and thanks for good guidance to trim these beauties up.

I have what I think is a Callery Pear sapling that I dug up from my back yard that gets those colors on it's spring growth. My sapling is 3-4 years old. I didn't touch it the whole summer and now it has grown 1.5 feet and now its starting its brilliant fall color sequence.

I don’t recall what the flowers look like on these. Really enjoyed the talk through of the pruning process.

Have you ever thought about making a vivarium? I would love to see what kind of design you could make in a vivarium that includes some sort of bonsai element!

Growing bonsai is like getting a bald haircut twice a year. Sure, you will look good for a month there at some point, but the rest is a mess 😃

When you inherit a tree...Do you channel the previous owner, or build your own vision?

Nigel ive been cruel to you. But i dont know anyone who sees bonsai like me but you. The inagination and artistic lisence is the point. I despise the riggidty of all these "arists" who essentially just copy and paste from japan. I hate when i see a tong of work get chopped off but im starting to see your point. So im sorry. Im changing my mind and thinking that what you and i and others like us do isnt bonsai. Its something new. Like punk rock is rock, but its not rock its punk. I hope your having a good day.
