Hey Adam, is it possible to make an overall short video what to do in each season? Greetings from Flanders
@notionbonsai

Hey! This is a cool idea! However, as so many trees have different needs it may be tricky to make a video of a "do this to every tree at this time of the year" type content. Japanese larch for example should not be wired once the leaves fall but other trees can be wired in the dormant season. 😄

@@notionbonsai Thank you Adam, it is indeed not easy to make something like this with so many different types of trees. Sometimes it is a head scratcher to make decisions. I think this is a hobby with trial and error like many things. Still thanks and good luck!

Hi Adam. Great video as always. I am having the pleasure of visiting Ireland . What an amazing place. Fascinated how everything is so lush and green. Keep up the good work. I miss my trees back home in South Africa, so popped on your channel to ease the pain😂

Fantastic video adam with great tips on the trees. Allways a good idea to try cuttings on expensive trees. What is there to lose if they fail. And making a deadwood feature on your brothers tree was absolutely the right decision 👌

Thank you so much Callan! For sure why not give them a go! Better than throwing them out with no hope at all! I am glad you agree on the deadwood feature, I think this little one could even be put into a smaller pot in a few years and be a cute little tree!

Good job Adam. I recommend checking for growth the grows back wards meaning it grows not out the branch but rather back towards to main trunk. GRMA.

Really awesome and informative video. I like what you did with your brothers tree. How do you treat your cuttings during winter? As you asked at the end, what your audience would have done differently: I would have left some of the growing Tipps on the lower part of that itoigawa, to help thicken the primary structure and the lower trunk part and to aid with the taper.
@notionbonsai

Thank you so much! For winter, I may mist them with an anti-transpirant to lock in the moisture over winter. I will keep them watered well in the free draining substrate and keep them in a humid environment. This is great advice on keeping the lower tips!! I may just do this next time it fills out!

On bonsai Q they said to cut the juniper in the green (something I was told to never do), this prevents the juvenile growth that you pointed out as new inner buds, always a battle!

@notionbonsai

Hey!! Thanks for your comment! I do not fertilise at all in winter, it is important that the trees can go dormant and feeding can sometimes make them grow again!

@@notionbonsaiThank you for your answer, opinions differ here in Germany. The evergreen tree also carries out photosynthesis in winter and that is why some fertilize in winter. I'll try it on my trees.
