I have been an arborist since the 1980s. So I wish to compliment you on a good introductory video. It gives the homeowner a good beginning. Also I wish gardeners and landscapers would see this. (They and the public need to understand that these people are NOT arborists!!)

@@regedmonds9099 One important thing that people need to know, is about "candle" growth on conifers. If you MUST shear, then it is best if it is the trees for that season only! If you shear for a future season you will get funky, distorted growth. The tree needs those springtime candles for continued attractive, orderly growth.

Also to ask your self on big cuts, how will it look if I remove this branch, even to have an additional bend it to see how it looks. If I cut it here & it looks like its missing a section, is there a potential bud & eventually branch in the future that will grow better in the area?

In the yard of the house we just purchased we have three Kwanzan Cherry Trees planted in a cluster. They have not been touched other than dead branch removal for 15 to 20 years. They are so thick grass will not grow under them in about a twenty foot diameter. I want to cut them way back but am afraid of killing them. I hate to pay someone to do it as I’m capable of handling and possess all the tools just lack the knowledge. Any advise for south central PA
