36 years old! Thats awesome! I found a 3 steamed dracaena plant at the side of the road with not pot, just laying on its side this past spring. Its about 7 feet tall. I potted it and had it outside tied up to our siding. Well, here in southern Ontario it was time to bring it in or cut it down. Our ceiling is about 7 ft tall in our 1000 square foot home. I finally decided to not cut it down and I placed it in a corner of my bedroom with fairy lights yesterday. I absolutely love it there!!! I'm so glad I found it at the side of the road!! One mans garbage really can be another mans treasure! I'm curios how old this one is.

That is such a nice story. You saved the dracaena!😊🙌 They certainly are a strong plant. I bet it looks beautiful with the fairy lights. 😊

I’ve missed you’re last videos, I need to click notification button. It’s amazing how long plants can live with correct care.

I have a ~28 year old one that belonged to my brother and has been severely neglected for probably two decades. I've pruned it and it grew again, the leaves look so much better now as well. Three years later and I actually have a lot of love for it. What worried me was the very thin stem(? my English isn't the best), but seeing yours isn't much thicker made me relax a little bit. It does need to be repotted again, which I'm looking to do this week. Thanks for the video!

Once I trimmed it, the mother plant looks much healthier. It quickly pushed new growth. So glad I did it. Your English is great! 😃

Hi. I have this type of Dracaena growing in my outdoor garden. It's two years old and the base is now becoming a thick stalk. I want to take it back to its first year look. Can I do that by cutting the stalk at the surface? Thanks
@birdhousegardenАй бұрын
Hi. I wouldn’t recommend pruning it at the base of the plant. I believe it would stress the plant, resulting in it possibly dying. Start with mildly pruning it and see how you like the results. I hope that helps. 😃🌿

Would love an update video on how the new plants are doing now. Also, did the stems you cut grow new tops?
@birdhousegarden2 жыл бұрын
I just filmed the backyard garden tour and I forgot to include that. I will definitely give ya'll an update the next time we film. The (mother) plant has several new growth points. So exciting to see that. The four stems that I replanted are alive... but could look healthier. Thank you for asking and watching! :)

Very curious how your newly planted cuttings are doing - did it work out as you hoped?

In the video “moving 2 boxwoods”, I have an update. Of the 4, one is doing well. Of the three left, 2 look healthy, one might be its last leg. 😔🤣 The mother plant looks awesome! Thank you for watching. 😊

How did your cuttings grow? Thankyou beautiful plant!
@birdhousegarden6 ай бұрын
Thank you.😊 Three of them did well for awhile. I lost one immediately and the other 2 I lost before the holidays. It was completely my fault. I overwatered them. I still have one that has 3 new growth areas. Not the success I was hoping for. A learning experience for certain. The mother plant is doing well.😊

Hello, do you remember the size your plant, and how many branches had 36 years ago?

Hi, yes I do. It was approximately 10 inches tall with 1 cane/branch. :)

That dracaena could actually be in full sun and they’ll appreciate it a lot. They’re heat and drought tolerant and when in stress (not a bad thing) they get a red tint I believe and they’re Beautiful I’m also 99% sure they’re succulents native to Madagascar
@birdhousegarden8 ай бұрын
Thank you so much for the information. They definitely do not require much water. I just filmed an update on the plant. 😊

Hi, I live in zone 9/9b central California. For the last 20 years I’ve had it outside on our back patio that’s full shade. 😃
