Uhhhh... it's not a bearing. ;) It's a pulley. Otherwise very nice video and very informative.

Thanks! My gear was loose and not in the proper position. I left my belt on and just turned off the printer so that the gear spins freely and then tightened the little retaining screws on the Gear. Now its perfectly tight and no more layer shift.

Thanks dude, this was the perfect fix! The vibration from too much printing caused the pulley screws to dislodge themselves

So what do you do when the X-axis layer shift is intermittent, yet 1- the grub screws are tight as hell and 2- the belt test keeps returning consistent measurements indicating the belt hasn't loosened up?
@Dutton863 жыл бұрын
Solved my problem, the x-axis bearing had become loose and the belt was rubbing on the housing. On the MK3S you can simply hold the shaft with a set of pliers when the grub screws are loose, then manually move the extruder to re-align the flat to the screw, saves removing the belt.

I just found your video and I wanted to say thank you because I'm pretty sure that's what my issue is, if that's not the issue then I'm going to have to replace the bearings and the smooth rods. I don't think you'll see this but if you do could you tell me how difficult it is to replace them?

What if you get Y-axis shift? I keep thinking it’s a slicing problem.

I'm having a bunch of layer shift issues with my MK2s. Double checked pulleys, belts, bearings, rods, all seem to be in working order and within specs, but still getting a shift around 80% thru the print. Any recs? Thanks!!
@304techmaven85 жыл бұрын
+Jo Crandall does the shift always occur in the x axis?
@JoCrandall5 жыл бұрын
@@304techmaven8 About 90% of the time... I was beginning to think it may have something to do with my Igus bearings, but then I did a factory reset along with a self-test and it says the y-axis pulley is loose... may still be the bearings?

I know this is an old video, but it is still a good video. However, I'd like to point out that the trapezoidal nuts on the z-axis are installed upside-down. It's a really common assembly mistake.

I have a problem with a cr-10s 400, I get a layer shift exactly 1/2 in hieght of every print. I had thought I over tightened the belt spent the day adjusting belt on x, then I flash marlin lowered jerk settings which gave me the shift again, checked the pulley to make sure the tight screw was locked into the notch on the pulley bar. I am at a loss as I had this printer 1 year and have not been able to get a solid print

For added credibility you need to correct your names of items you are referring to. Point in case, that item attached to the X-axis motor that the drive belt IS NOT a bearing it is a notched pully for the GT2 belt.
@304techmaven86 жыл бұрын
+Dennis Hughes thank you for the constructive feedback! I should have been more careful when calling out different parts. I was referring to the bearing as the pully bearing, and the pulley as the belt. Thanks for tuning in!

How can you mistake a pulley for a bearing? 🤦🏻♂️ Not once but throughout the entire video. Lol
@304techmaven86 жыл бұрын
+John Hasty thanks for the constructive feedback. In the video when I say bearing i’m referring to the pulley bearing, and when I say pulley Im referring to the actual belt of the pulley. I see how this could be a little confusing. Thanks for tuning in!

304TechMaven I’m pulling ya strings my friend. 🤣 lol. Everyone watching know what you’re sayin. I noticed you have a 3D printed litecoin or bitcoin prop in your profile pic. I have two addresses each with about 5 or 6 bucks worth of coins. I started mining just to see what it was like and afterwards became disinterested. If you could inform me on how to transfer coins to you, you can have them. You could make a video on TPU filament, and how to use it, I’ve wasted a good bit. 😂
