I'm literally on my first prints ever since I just got my first printer and this tip helped to fix the layering issues I was having on some tall prints, the new batch came out flawless. Thanks!

Well, that was the most informative. Looking forward to trying to see if I get a better print. I am 3-D printing RC car body just a cab. I’ll try all the information you put out and see if I get a better print. Thank you so much for taking the time to do this helping newbies out

@ i’ve gotten a lot better, but I think a problem I might be having I have a creality 3 V3 se even though I have double and triple checked all the bolts. I think the frame is getting a little movement. So next, I am gonna try some bracing. But your information has made my print so much better. I cannot send a picture on this platform, butI’d like to show you the difference. Thanks again. It really helped.

Well, the printing keeps getting better. I just added a set of gantry supports and we will see going forward. But I am so much happier as a newbie with the quality of my prints. So thank you very much such a big help.

Several of your recommended setups are spot on. I have an Ender 5+ and swapped out all the corner braces for much heavier duty ones that nulled out flex in the frame. I added additional rubber feet and set the unit on two layers of high density EVA foam. The jerk and general acceleration settings are all the same as you have setup, as well as some retraction settings I needed that eliminated what were very tiny blobs of plastic left after retractions. These acted like tiny speed bumps that would throw the part off or knock it over (eight failures in a row, recorded video allowed me to nail down the issue). Today it prints fine at 80mm/sec. Direct drive and all metal hotend, PLA+.

You can definitely print faster with a 5+ due to the core xy cage. Very happy to hear the settings are helping & I’ve wondered about placing some gym flooring under my printer for additional support, thanks for sharing & I appreciate the view!
@robertfousch27032 жыл бұрын
@@Darkwingdad the gym flooring does work ok....I used one tile of that plus one cut square of 8mm higher density foam I use in cosplay builds, it gave more vibration absorption. Now, clamping down the unit...I used a couple of heavy duty rubber bungies, like the ones used on big trucks trailers. The really locked the unit down on the table...BUT...they actually flexed the frame a but too much and I got a little binding in the unit (foam mat pushed up on the Z steppers). I added the additional rubber feet to give more support to stop that but after doing a few tests, I found the bungies made zero difference to the print. The goal was to stop the unit from moving (DD and Metal Hotend adds weight to that extruder assembly on the X/Y and that inertia can give you shifts). In the end, I took the bungies off as dialing in the other variables worked just fine. ESPECIALLY the jerk acceleration and the retracting/coasting. Those were key. And I love your channel, keeping working it.

I wanted some validation on the usual culprits of layer shift and you were one of the only ones that talked about jerk and acceleration. Reducing them didn't help and still wanted to keep my printing speed. So in my case, it turned out to be something not so much spoken about, After printing 3 times and layer shifting at the exact same spot and after going through tightening what needed to be tightened and with a symptom didn't have with any other model, I thought it gotta be the model. It is a more complex, with lots of small turns and it is the model that takes the longest to slice from models I printed so far. I am printing at high speeds (easily reaching 300 mm/s) with a Biqu H2 500 I replaced my Stock ender 5 pro extruder with. Some weird things happen, like the stock LCD gets all scrambled. So I thought, gotta be processing power. And my solution to print this model in particular was applying Arc Welder to the original gcode.

Here in the UK, I found 90% of my layer shifts on my Ender 5 + were due to well used SD cards. Put the stl on a New sd card and try again. Much cheaper and less stressful than hitting firmware or changing printer parts.

Ive got a Ender3 V3 and it has layered shifted 3 times, seems to only do this on long printing times, doing a feral predator which is a large model, however, on the smaller print models i dont get any layer shifts, could it be the belt?

Hey have you had a printer like shift every layer just about one layer over each layer up and making a small gring noise starting each layer like the belt is skipping over a gear or something. Only happens in normal standard mode but if I go to slow stable mode it prints fine. I got this from someone on Marketplace and he said he only had it a month. When I looked at the printing hours it was less than 8 hrs total. I replaced a bad belt but now I am wondering why the belt was so bad. Stretched and ripped at the clamp. I know it's alot just trying to give you the best idea...lol
