Prusa XL Buyers Regret

I had the fan calibration issue as well... How I solved it, believe it or not is by putting my finger on the fan to create a slight drag and it passes. However, I contacted Prusa about the issue and the rep told me that the issue is air flow. The fan duct underneath the fan causes to much resistance and that causes the fan to fail. They told me to simply remove the duct and run the test again, and it worked. They all passed. Mine would kind of jump around, sometimes it was tool 5, other times it was tool 2 and 3. Regardless, both methods seemed to have worked. After the calibration completes, you can put the ducts back on. They only seem to cause errors during the calibration and not afterward. I hope if you got a lemon that Prusa will take care of you. Seems like a lot of people returned their XL's and Prusa was understanding of it. Just saw video 2...lol saw you already applied this trick.

I canceled the MK4 kit and got a Bambu, haven't looked back since. Sorry you have had issues w/ such an expensive machine. Give them a call, and keep on them since they say their tech support is above all.. hold their feet to the fire, and let us know what is going on. New subscriber btw.

ALSO.. my electrical, electronics, & computer hardware class professors always said.. CONNECTIONS CONNECTIONS CONNECTIONS.. get a multimeter and check to make sure the wires are good etc.. eliminate ALL connectivity issues.

Hoping they will get it resolved later this week. But it still puts this printer down 3 weeks so far, and that is never fun.

They do, I had problems with my new MK4, and they sent me a new main board

Never heard that the 24/7 support took so long to respond, did you write mail to support? The chat support on the website usally takes 4 minuits to respond and at the 2 XLs i worked with now it was the fans even we swapped the had as is was falty connection to the love board. They send out new heads imediatly after we done like 7 tests which took 30 min or so.

After a 2 hour chat session, they told me they needed the techs to look into the errors and now I'm stuck on emails. I get 1 response every day.

I’m not a Prusa troubleshooter, but I’ve had my Prusa XL five tool head for a month or two. I suspect a wiring harness issue or a bent pin at one of the connectors. I suspect you may have already ruled this out.

We thought that as well and swapped harnesses and double checked pins. Everything was in good shape.

Just got my Prusa XL yesterday already have it assembled, calibrated and put on an enclosure My assembly time was also 6hrs for the semi-assembly unit. mine took off with no issues for me Have you tried disconnecting the cables on the extruders and reconnecting them. You might also check the 2 expansion cards and make sure they are pushed all the way in to the main board. Finally you could try disconnecting all but 2 extruders and see what it does then add 1 at a time and calibrate it till you find the bad unit

I have Prusa Mini+, MK4, SL1S resin and XL 5 head. No issues long as I sliced it right. I began my 3D printing journey with Prusa and I’m very pleased that I did 💯

I'd been really interested in one of these for multimaterial printing. The technology is cool, and some people (eventually) love theirs arter doing a ton of upgrades to it. But for me, if im spending 4 grand on a printer it had better work flawlessly. Unfortunately, it seems like the prusa xl doesn't meet that requirement.

Fwiw most of the XLs do work flawlessly now out of the box. This one in particular does seem to have a defective part somewhere

I’m having a big problem after the upgrade for my Prusa MK4 Changed the mainboard, but the problem still persist Pratically it’s broken and they don’t know the problem on it Gave up and bought a Bambu Lab For My MK4, i’ll sell the parts online and throw in the garbage the other parts that remains

I've started to think that Prusa has gone downhill really since the MK4. The MK3 was their flagship but unfortunately their time has come and gone. I'm in the process of unloading mine.

Yup, they are so desperately trying to validate paying 700+ for a bed slinger this day and age is a wise investment. I too was interested in an XL, until I saw it in action, slow and stringing with prusament. This was at a Prusa PUG meeting. The X2CXL or whatever Bambu is gonna name it is pretty much gonna be Prusa's epitaph. I appreciate what they have done and we wouldnt be where we are without them.

Maybe remove 4 of the print heads and see if you can get it to run with just one first?

It will run until you calculate the heatbed. They you get puppy error 17513 & or 17514. I purchased a new splitter board but I can't buy a sandwich or buddy board. Prusa tech support won't sell or send a replacement for either board.

They do send replacement boards when they've confirmed one is broken. I would expect them to send you one after they've ruled out the other possibilities.
