As someone in my 40's and growing up with a Commodore 64 throughout almost all of my childhood, I can 100% tell you that random flashing of colors is 100% normal. Its emulating the game loading screen. Back then we used to have to wait for a game to completely load off the floppy disk before it was playable, sometimes taking MANY MANY minutes. Of course with emulators it wont take that long but it can still take a bit, so be patient and let the colors flash and your game will eventually start. It was their way of letting you know something was happening other than just a blue or black screen looking like things were frozen. We got a young one here... LoL

Haha dude, the color flashing is the game decompressing. It was a part of loading the game in the old days. Every single game did it. It's not a bug, its just loading

Was thinking the same thing 😂🤣 loading screen Someone should tell him it's the loading screen James i like your channel but back in the day most games had the colorful lines as the game loaded into the C64 memory 64 kilobytes (65,536 bytes) of RAM ☺ some games took about 5min's to load

The color bars is the commodore 64 loading screen. It take a couple of seconds to load de game. Great videos, Thks a lot.

I used to get the colour bars when loading a cassette game on spectrum and I'm pretty sure c64 had the same. Maybe just wait it out? Nice vid as always!

Thanks James! I've wanted a good C64 emulator on my PS Vita for awhile. I've been using an old C64 emulator via Adrenaline, but this will be so much better. I bought my first C64c way back in 1989. It was an AWESOME computer for the time. So many great games to play back then. Fun to now be able to have them all on a portable system you can play while sitting on your couch. Thanks for your wonderful videos. You always make it so easy and straight forward on how to install these additional emulators. :)

This is one of the best standalone emulators for the Vita at the moment. You don't need Retroarch's Vice core to play your favorite C64 games anymore. You can tweak the settings, change the button mapping (which is incredible), and even have this nostalgic disk drive sound emulated if you want. So Tech James, please do your homework before you review something from now on and don't tell it is broken if you have no idea about it.

The flashing is the loading screen when we used to load from tape. Maybe there is a bypass button or something...?

They used to think making the screen go crazy was cool back in the day... its loading... just let it load it is slow because it emulates the floppy disk speed.

The emulators works really well. Some games need some time to load with true drive emulation on. But when it has loaded you can make a savefile. I use .zip files.

Coz you did not have c64 when you were kid :) dude that strange colour screen is the actual loading its emulating casset . You need to wait like you would wait on real c64. Some of games load quickl coz the got quick boot or they are ripped from cartridge. Bud dont forget you emulating a cassets here :)

Like others have said, those color bars are normal. This happens when some games are loading. You also get some funky colors on the screen after the game has stopped loading. This happens when a game is being unpacked to the C64's memory.
