I assume when the PS1 is reset using the reset button, the VRAM isn't entirely cleared and the startup logo/theme overwrites the parts in RAM necessary. Normally you wouldn't see this.

@@alexglaser_ To be fair, looking at the video, while shield may be imagining far too much with the "easter egg", I don't think he's that far off on the first half. The fact that the blood sprite from the game was loaded does look like this is an improper handling of issues reading the data, and it does look like to some degree we're seeing raw memory being output. It may look chaotic, but we've seen things like this in other games that absolutley can be manipulated. Edit: Yup thought so. Looked into it. Fearful Harmony in rare cases can also show up as coloured pixels according to the wiki on this, which occurs when System Memory is being mistakenly read and output as if it was VRAM. "Rarely, the screen will fill with pixels of random color creating a 'rainbow' effect, possibly due to the console mistaking dynamic RAM (DRAM) for video RAM (VRAM). in normal fearful harmony since theres no data for the ps1 boot screen if you use pc disc it just takes stuff from the bios so it looks really messed up

@@unnamedscribble-auttp usually, a PC disc would bring up a Forbidden Image instead. for a Fearful Harmony you need to have a very specific format disc that will be interpreted by the PS1 as "valid data" that is not

I'm guessing that the system has some damaged RAM, which causes a crash when a game tries to use that RAM. That's also why you can see some of the game's textures during Fearful Harmony, the RAM wasn't able to clear out properly.

I guess what's happening here is basically normal fearful harmony, but the GPU falsely loads corrupted data from the VRAM during the startup and since it's an error, the pictures just pile up instead of getting replaced by each other

Since we can see data from the game in the BIOS, that means, the console has been reset, but the ram has been locked while being reset, this is the cause of the "Fearful Harmony", as the PS1 tries to load data that is not correct.
