you can do that on a normal ps3, the backwards compatibility is only for disks. if you jailbreak your ps2 compatible ps3 it will lose value but im 2 years late anyway.

@@wazzygd huh? first off, it's only a matter of time before my OG PS3 is dead. Any "fixes" are more less just a bandage on a poorly designed console. Also, you can restore it to stock firmware and reinstall the stock HD and be back to normal PS3. If anything, custom firmware extends its life by allowing it to cool more effectively. value... timebombs.. If I restore it, you wanna buy it for $300? Whoever pays that kind of price deserves to also buy my oceanfront property in Arizona as well. Thanks for the comment though.

Its borderline negligence to NOT jailbreak and install webman on BC ps3s. If you don't your RSX will die much faster and your console will be completely useless.

Yo!!!...hopefully u can help me, I can't get a response...I have games on the hard drive. It won't automatically put the artwork on there and also it won't play any of the iso files or ps3 files..I even put skyrim on there and it won't play them. It keeps kicking me out of multiman.

Hello again. :) So I have a rebug slim that I use control console with to transfer via ftp. That works fine. I also have a hen slim. I followed you up to connecting via IP address and it says server failed to connect. Both machines connected to the same network. This should be simple but it’s not working. I’m getting close to taking this hen machine out back and using it for target practice! Either way, I still appreciate and use many of your guides. Thank you for everything.

Wow an amazing video that explain the exact process and none of the issues that may appear! Again with another tutorial video that excludes important information. When making a video like this it would be marvelous for people to discuss why others would be getting a connection time out. I have a custom firmware 4.88, I have multiman activated, with FTP enabled and im getting, "Connection time out after 20 seconds of inactivity, could not connect to server". I've done everything possible you've listed.

Good suggestion. So I guess there are two ways to go about it. One would be to clone the original HDD to an SSD using something like the WeMe USB dock. I have one and it's an amazing device for this task. The "hard way" would be to buy the SSD, then manually install the official system software onto it with the PS3, then copy over your backed up files and folders. Both ways work, though.

Only when you're transferring files to/from your PS3 and PC. FTP is just another way to make moving content around convenient.

By connecting my jail broken PS3 to the internet, doesn't that mean an automatic ban, thereby making the PS3 not function again? 2. While transferring from PC to the PS3 using the filezilla through ethernet is data consumed? I mean as in the scenario of downloading something on the net, where data equivalent to the size of what you want to download consumed in the download process.

CMIIW, but i think PS3 doesn't need internet to operate... Automatically ban means that if u have PS network account signed in ur jailbroken ps3 thats mean ur PS Network will be banned But even if ur PS network account got banned that only will be a problem if u play ps3 games online And transfering data using FTP doesnt consuming any data

After many attempts to get this to work, I STILL cannot connect to my PS3. I keep getting this error message: Connection attempt failed with "EACCES - Permission denied". After also reading some forums I discovered that it was probably a security system or firewall blocking me, so I disabled ALL MY FIREWALLS to see if this fixed it....it did not fix it. I'm ripping my hair out from my head and Im about to punch several holes in walls from frustration. HELPP!!!!!!

maybe your ftp server on ps3 runs on a specific port, you should check which ports are open on your ps3 while it runs ftp server. for example, my ps3 ftp server runs on a 21 port

The only downside to Downloading games on file Zilla is most games that are over 10g take at least 2-3 hrs to download and that can take up your ps3 life span or overheat your console

I kept having this same issue. When you go into Multiman, go to your settings and go down until you see something like "console auto off". Mine was set to 60 minutes before the ps3 would shut off. Disable this setting and you should be ok.
